Evil Dead - The Final American Horror Cult Classic

The Evil Dead is probably the best series ever.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghml3TBJpq4

There's my review on the evil dead 2: dead by dawn.

who else would agree that the evil dead is the final american cult classic. and i mean TRUE cult classic, not like scream or any of those films.

Classic Horror Movies:
Horror and monster movies from the 1960's and before.

What's "Evil Dead"?

Noah 07-10-2008 12:23 PM

Absolutely. A brilliant series of movies. Unfortunately they're remaking the original, which is complete fuckin' nonsense! But whatever.

We only watch good movies here. So take your "Evil Dead" as you call it and get out. I'm going to review The Happening later, which is THE cult classic.

shop_smart_shop_s_mart 07-10-2008 03:45 PM

The happening was terrible...

No one in the theatre could stop laughing at the bad dialogue and cheesy plot.

That's your opinion. Just like how Evil Dead is so amazing.

Take your garbage somewhere else. We only watch good movies here? Well according to the official horror.com top 100 list, Evil Dead ranks at #8 beating the likes of The Shining and other great classics, so I guess your part of the very few who think its a bad movie.

If you don't have anything positive to say, don't say anything at all. Respect the original poster's opinion.

You could of given your input about The Happening without bashing the original poster like that.

Alright, take a deep breath and re-read all the posts....sheesh

Dennoow 07-11-2008 05:52 AM

I'm very curious! I haven't seen those yet, busy getting them. The Happening is a terrible film btw, very treehugger-inspired, plants that kill people? c'mon.

Ever heard of Little Shop of Horrors?

Or Day of the Triffids?

There are other films with killer plants, but those are the only two I can think of this early.

You're not very old, are you?

Get your facts together please :)

And congratulations to Neverending! For being the first person to use the word "classic" and actually post a film that falls into the category. You win!

neverending 07-11-2008 07:03 AM

The Ruins is another movie with killer plants.

You're welcome my liege!

crabapple 07-11-2008 07:58 AM

I just wanted to mention that Day of the Triffids kicks ass.

Elvis_Christ 07-11-2008 08:39 AM

Evil Dead 2 is dope but I'm not a fanboy. There's a lot more to horror than the Evil Dead flicks.

Made a bootleg of Within The Woods and Evil Dead: The Musical the other day. Might give it a watch this Sunday when I'm in vegeout mode.

joshaube 07-11-2008 09:16 PM

Some people here need to take a Sarcasm 101 class.

correction, serial rapist plants.

EliotNess 07-13-2008 07:09 PM

the dark crystal has some killer plants in it...or maybe they didn't actually KILL anyone...but they were threatening...do threatening plants count? :p

horrorchic 07-16-2008 03:10 AM

I completely agree that Evil Dead is in my opinion the best cult movie out there. But that's because Sam Raimi's troupe is darn likeable.

stenchofdeath 07-16-2008 05:59 AM

Evil Dead is a great classic. In my opinion probably the other best horror made next to The Exorcist. I will be very interested to see what a remake looks like. Especially with the great advancement of technology compared the effects used in the early 80's.

CopperShark 07-16-2008 10:43 AM

Those effects are part of its charm. I cannot imagine The Evil Dead without em.
Is Bruce Campbell gonna be in it?

I stand corrected.

Posher778 07-16-2008 02:29 PM

Jumanji has killer plants. My mom GROWS killer plants.

horrorchic 07-16-2008 05:35 PM

Bruce Campbell is just a producer I think. I agree that the lack of technology is what made that film a cult classic. Especially the scenes where Bruce "Ashe" runs away from the deadite and the audience can see the tops of each of the walls and the stage ceiling. It is a great movie, but the remake is not going to be able to hold a candle. That is why I will try to think of it like it's own movie. It'll be easier to digest it.

La Chat Noire 07-21-2008 12:47 PM

After looking at this thread I decided it was about time I finally saw this movie. I usually don't care for demon movies, but this one was fantastic! And as silly as some of the effects are, they definitely give the movie a large part of its appeal.

Ash3292 07-25-2008 08:19 PM

I agree that Evil Dead is the one of the only remaining cult classic

What? Does cult classic status expire after a period of time?
