So excited!

My book's up on Amazon! No orders yet, but it's up!

http://www.amazon.com/Murderland-Par...f=pd_rhf_p_t_2

ferretchucker 07-03-2008 08:42 AM

WOW! That's brilliant. What's it about?

Anyway, hope it all goes great and you make loads off it.

And Garrett Cook huh?

Doc Faustus 07-03-2008 09:32 AM

It's about an alternate America where serial killers are the hottest celebrities and murder is legal in designated Safe Zones and the homicidal pharmacist who kills because he thinks monsters from another dimension are possessing women and is trying to shun fame. This book, the first in the series is about his relationship, some of the choices he's making and his crusade against the possibly unreal monsters.
Yup, Garrett Cook. Never been fond of it, really. One who prepares food in an attic. But, I've been assured that it's better than a pseudonym, so I'm keeping it.

Roderick Usher 07-03-2008 09:38 AM

You have one order now;)
and way to go, that's awesome!!!

_____V_____ 07-03-2008 09:51 AM

Make that two.

Hearty congrats, Doc...wtg!

Doc Faustus 07-03-2008 09:52 AM

Score! Thanks!

pumpkin_queen 07-03-2008 10:11 AM

I was wondering who your publisher is, I have a book of poems, I have been trying to get published for over 12 years, my manuscript is just sitting in the book case, collecting dust. If you can help that would be great. Congrats on the book, I will try to order one too!! Thanks.

Doc Faustus 07-03-2008 10:28 AM

Poetry's tough, not impossible but tough. There are very specific expectations of it, none of which I like, to be honest. It will hard going , but it's not impossible to find a publisher for poems. I'd say get yourself a Writer's Market and be prepared to lick envelopes until your tongue bleeds and you'll end up on top sooner or later if the work is right for somebody. It's not always about good or bad, it's about compatibility. Always remember that when querying anything. Crap shows up in print because somebody wants that kind of thing. Good work shows up in print because somebody wants it there, if you remember this and don't get discouraged too easily you could find somebody. I'm sitting on a book of poems myself and it hurts that it might never see print, but someday I'll do something about it.

ChronoGrl 07-03-2008 10:56 AM

Make that three.

Congrats! Looking forward to reading.

Doc Faustus 07-03-2008 10:57 AM

Thank you! Enjoy it.

illdojo 07-03-2008 11:06 AM

Thats Kick Ass Doc... Congrats bro.

ferretchucker 07-03-2008 01:21 PM

Sounds like a pretty good book. What does the H8 mean?

And pumpkin Queen, it might be easier to try and get the poems published seperately in different books full of loads of people poems.

neverending 07-03-2008 02:20 PM

I'll be ordering tonight when I get home from work.

Psycom5k 07-03-2008 03:15 PM

Well I can't say I'll be ordering because of my money situation, but congrats anyways.

could probably mail it to him once you get it - include the postage for the journey back ..

the USA has a media rate for books - etc.. thats pretty inexpensive.

Psycom5k 07-03-2008 04:31 PM

Tonight's the night we're gonna make it happen
Tonight we'll put all other things aside
Get in this time and show me some affection
We're goin' for those pleasures in the night

I want to love you, feel you, wrap myself around you
I want to squeeze you, please you, I just can't get enough
And if you move real slow I let it go

I'm so excited and I just can't hide it
I'm about to lose control and I think I like it
I'm so excited and I just can't hide it
And I know I know I know I know I know I want you

We shouldn't even think about tomorrow
Sweet memories will last for long long time
We'll have a good time, Baby, don't do worry
And if we're still playin' around boy that's just fine

Let's get excited, we just can't hide it
I'm about to lose control and I think I like it
I'm so excited and I just can't hide it
I know I know I know I know I know I want you, I want you

I want to love you, feel you, wrap myself around you
I want to squeeze you, please you, I just can't get enough
And if you move real slow I let it go

I'm so excited, I just can't hide it
I'm about to lose control and I think I like it
I'm so excited and I just can't hide it
I know I know I know I know I know I want you

Ditto. I might have to take you up on that offer, Doc. ;)

The_Return 07-03-2008 08:01 PM

I really need to get myself a credit card...if I can figure out a way to pay for it, I'll be ordering this for sure. Congrats dude!!

What are the chances of it showing up on Indigo's site?

Klaatu Barada Nikto 07-04-2008 04:15 AM

This is actually pretty cool, man!

I've never heard of Indigo, but thanks for the support everyone! Anybody who makes an order on HDC just PM me, email me, myspace me or what have you and I'd be glad to give you the address so you can send it to me for signing. Hope you guys enjoy it. It's inspired by cult and action films and books that I'm sure are mutual favorites and I'll think you'll dig the novelty as well as the familiarity.

Seriously?

Its pretty much the biggest chain of bookstores in Canada. Parent company of Coles + Chapters, I do believe. Surprises that you've never heard of 'em.

neverending 07-04-2008 08:11 PM

I've never heard of them either.

Get a few copies printed up. A lot of the University print shops do it for cheap. Then go from there...

Congrats Doc next time I put a amazon order thru I'll pick a copy up!

Doc Faustus 07-07-2008 06:23 PM

Cool! Thanks!

Seriously! DAMN YOU AMAZON!!!

Doc Faustus 07-09-2008 05:49 PM

The real problem is through no fault of anyone's, my book got off the press and up for the sale the day before a federal holiday. I found it pretty funny that my book would be shipped out on July 4th, considering what it's about.

Vodstok 07-10-2008 05:54 AM

I am doing my hulk impression right now, because i am green with envy. good job! is this the birth of a new carreer doc?

Doc Faustus 07-10-2008 07:50 AM

I hope. Thus far I've seen myself only acceptable as a writer and the worst cashier on earth, so I'm probably gonna have to go with writing in the long run.

:) good. how old are you? I have been writing since i was 15 (now im 32....) and have yet to get a short story published... Mostly because i get caught up trying to put food on the table and find excuses to not do something i love (writing).

fear of sucess i guess.

Doc Faustus 07-10-2008 08:23 AM

I'm 25. I started my first novel at 16 and have been pounding the pavement query wise since 18, when I got an encouraging rejection from Exquisite Corpse, which 7 years later was the first place I got a story into print. If it weren't for the fact that I can't get a day job to save my life, I'd have been caught up in trying to do that, too, but instead my girlfriend and I have had to gypsy around on just faith, love and the occasional nod of encouragement. It's not going to get easy, but it will get easiER. You should check out http://www.ralan.com. It's a bazaar of genre markets, big, medium and small that you might find a niche at. Also, don't be afraid of small presses. Everybody wants the advance, but the fact is that an advance is only borrowing money from your future self anyway. Royalties are slow, but they're money and they get you noticed.

neverending 07-10-2008 11:03 AM

Got my copy today!

I'm reading it now... great so far! Darkly humorous and twisted.
