Well, that salamander-looking thing....that thing totally looks like it stepped out of a Pokemon cartoon into the real world. It's so pink!! You gotta love that thing.
And that crabfish thing...wow! What a totally awesome looking creature! It even looks happy in the photo, like it's smiling just a bit. |

Heh heh heh heh heh....hoochius poochius.
I think that crabfish thing may be a marine arthropod but that may be a broad classification....anyone know exactly what that thing is?? This type of thread is the reason I like this message board. Weird animals are fun to discuss and many of the pictures are funny. It's a good flavor to mix in with discussions about Horror. |
A good thread idea....? Me? How much coffee did you drink today :P
|
Yes, this is a good thread! I like it. Maybe not as much as I like Hoochie Poochie! But it's pretty good.
Look what I found...there is actually a real, honest to goodness Hoochie Poochie store for your pets! http://www.thehoochiepoochiestore.com/mm5/merchant.mvc |

http://www.hoax-slayer.com/images/tampa-sea-monster.jpg Photographs of this strange and ferocious looking creature have been circulating via email and online since mid 2006. The images have generated a lot of discussion. Given that our oceans do indeed harbour some strange and wonderful denizens, many have postulated that the creature might be a deep-sea fish hitherto unknown to science. In fact, the "creature" is a sculpture by Tampa Bay artist Juan Cabana. Mr Cabana has created an entire menagerie of mermaids, sea monsters and aliens, some of which he offers for sale on eBay under the name "seamystery". This particular "Sea Monster" was the subject of an eBay auction in June 2006. The same photographs that are now circulating were included in the eBay description of the item. |

Something that absolutely fascinates me...
Bloop: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloop The Bloop is the name given to an ultra-low frequency underwater sound detected by the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration several times during the summer of 1997. The source of the sound remains unknown. Some of the more hard-coded evidence that we have of giant sea-monsters... Though it's probably more of a giant mudsucker at the bottom than anything else. ... I am also fascinated by cryptozoology: "Dipro" http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ogrl/dipro.jpg "Merman" http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...pgw300h400.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...pgw300h400.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...lue-merman.jpg V already covered the Mungfish, which is one ugly sucker... And I am also fascinated by the shark found with legs: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...k_web_feet.gif |

the shark with legs i would say might be genuine, the rest are obvious fakes.
aorry to say, there are no recorded giant jellyfish that big. i stress recorded, no onw knows what lives in the midwater area between the top 100 feet an d the bottom, it is the lleast explored area on our planet. mostly because studying it in a sub has been comapred to studying the grand canyon at night in a helecopter, using only a canlde for light. |

Is that weird lizard thing for real? It looks cool!
I read up on coconut crabs just now and those are neat animals...they open coconuts and pull the meat out with their claws! They are the only animal that can do that.....it's wild... |

http://www.underwatertimes.com/news....id=73210864950 That picture just amuses, interests, and creeps me out all at the same time... The "mermen" are obvious fakes (which make me laugh)... The "Diplocaulus" was made my a Japanese artist which he photographed in a pan on his lawn to appear as though he caught it. The neat thing about that picture was that people actually took it seriously at the time. I can understand why; for a forgery, it looks pretty damn good (I know that I thought it was real when I first saw it). It's an actual dinosaur, though. Just not... Still living. heh |
unless it's lobster cooked on a plate, I hate everything under the sea.

the creature is a Diplocaulus, an amphibian that predates the dinosaurs by quite a bit. It si one of those things that if a living one were found, it would be a HUGE deal. Do you remember the hubbub when they finally got a live giant squid on film a few years back? It would be way bigger than that, even bigger than the coelocanth. give me a bit and i will round up some really cool real animals. |

Box Jellyfish. Doesnt look like much, but they are the most poisonous creature alive. http://bioephemera.com/wp-content/up...028542ead3.jpg deep sea isopod. think of a pill bug that lives on the botton of the ocean, the size of a football. http://www.biology.duke.edu/johnsenl...lery/Viper.jpg Viperfish. Tiny, but they look fucking cool. http://www.greengoblin.com/internal/corner/shark.jpg Goblin shark. Butt ugly, but real |
I thought the Blue Ring octopus was more poisonous...
