Pretty cool little optical illusion/test.

"If she's spinning clockwise, you're using your right brain. Counterclockwise, your left brain. If she switches back and forth, you're balanced. Or crazy."

I can see it both ways, usually when I want but sometimes I can't get it to switch heh. When I first saw it, it was spinning clockwise. Sometimes I can even make it look like it's only spinning halfway and then switching. Weird...

Not too weird...Same for me :)

I first saw it in a much larger version, about a year ago

I vaguely remember a larger version too, I think this is one of those things that I had seen before and forgot about. I like it though.

That's pretty good.

neverending 05-25-2008 05:35 PM

It clearly is clockwise to my eyes. I don't see it switching at all.

Same here. I can usually see both sides of illusions like this, but I cant figure out the counter-clockwise deal...

But really, I'm not surprised - my right brain has total control over me. Fuck the left, with all its stupid "logic" and "rationality".

Psycom5k 05-25-2008 05:54 PM

Clockwise here.

missmacabre 05-25-2008 06:11 PM

Clockwise for me and if wouldn't switch. then I sat for a second and thought about math and chemistry and it switched for a second but then right back again. I'm definately a right brained individual though, all artsy and stuff.

Anybody with trouble trying to get it to switch, try missmacabre's method and glance away then back quickly. Maybe that will help. Also, I've found that doing things with your right hand really makes it go counter-clockwise in a hurry, could just be for me.

neverending 05-25-2008 07:28 PM

Okay how does it do that!

fortunato 05-25-2008 07:46 PM

i see it both ways, but it's totally random.
it'll just change.

missmacabre 05-25-2008 07:49 PM

ooh using my right hand and not looking right at it made it stay counterclockwise for a bit.

Psycom5k 05-25-2008 08:06 PM

Oooooo, thats cool. I just got it to switch, thanks to MM. I thought about a math problem, and didn't look directly at it, and I watched it switch, then I thought about boobs and watched it swap back.

Posher778 05-25-2008 08:22 PM

It actually switches directions... We did this experiment in psychology that revealed it.

Psycom5k 05-25-2008 08:26 PM

Yeah you can switch the directions depending on which hand you use, just look to the middle of the screen, pick something up and move it with your left hand, it goes right, use your right hand and it switches.

GorePhobia 05-25-2008 11:38 PM

It started counter clockwise first and then when I touched my mouse with my right hand it switched.

ferretchucker 05-26-2008 02:06 AM

I stare at her foot, the one that's flat. I imagine it spinning the other way when I stare at it, then she follows.

Roderick Usher 05-27-2008 08:55 AM

No matter what I do, I only see it spinning clockwise.

Guess I'm imbalanced

urgeok2 05-27-2008 08:58 AM

i was clockwise for ever - the all of a sudden, counter.

whichever way you see it - it seems impossible at the time that it could ever be seen going in the opposite direction.

pretty cool

newb 05-27-2008 10:42 AM

hmmmm.......she's doing cartwheels for me.

Mr. Grady 05-27-2008 11:01 AM

When I first looked at it I saw counter-clockwise. I tried to see it the other way, and after some time and a tilt of my head it changed direction. I can get it to change direction by tilting my head or blinking. It doesn't work every time, but this is a pretty cool image...
