[rec]
So I saw [rec] last night. It was really really good. The start wasn't too slow or too foreboding, and it had a fantastic medium between the "keep throwing things at the audience" method of scaring and the Blair Witch "is something going to happen EVER?" method. You think something's going to happen, then it doesn't. Then when you've resigned yourself to nothing happening, all hell breaks loose. It's the best horror movie I've seen since The Descent, but it's scarier than that movie was.

Is this in English yet? Or french even? German? Something I understand cause I'm dying to see it especially after your explaination. Oooh subtitles?
|
It had subtitles.
And WARNING!!!! DO NOT watch the trailers for the movie Quarantine before you watch [rec]. Quarantine is a [rec] remake, almost shot-for-shot, and it gives away the ending. |

This does not compute on Netflix. :(

I was just gonna sayyy... I can't find it anywhere.

I am avoiding anything on the remake. It's been decided. Hrmph. |
i found it on alluc.org. Go to movies>genre>horror and search through them. it wont come up if you search. Unfortunately you need firefox to view it and my computer illiterate family insists on using only IE.
|
I saw [REC] a few months ago, as Sam says, it is the best horror movie since The Decent. Its in spanish, so its subtitles, and sometimes the subs go by too fast because the actors speak so fast. if you can get around these facts then go for it, if not your losing out.
|
well now I want to see it too.
|
It's also short, it's only 75 minutes. And the prologue isn't brief, so once the mayhem starts it is tightly compacted into the remainder of the film.
|
I saw it last night too and it was simply AWESOME!!:) Undoubtedly one of the best horror flicks of this decade. Very highly recommended.
|
Its a really fuckin' good flick but I dug Diary Of The Dead a lot more for the handicam/found footage deal it dug a lot deeper and questioned its motivations and had some classic Romero satire (pretty over this style now after watching those two and Cloverfield recently).
Christ they didn't waste much time putting out a remake did they? |
I just saw it, what a great movie!!! They have some references to my country, Portugal (no wonder, Spain is right next door) and I'm glad to see we're still seen as the root of all evil :D Kidding...
Go watch this movie, NOW! |
seen it luved it
wifey hated it (even though she jumped in places) but the end, omg, THE END was fucking awesome. *SPOILER* what/whose kid was that in the attic? the kid that broke the light it's been bugging me |
Anyone know where I could watch this online?
The link that MissMacabre posted was a dead-end...it just leads to another link, then you have to sign up for another site...but [REC] isn't even actually there. |

None of your business.

I just watched REC last night, and all I can say is "Wow." It is definitely one of the best horror titles in a long time.

Watched it again with the girlfriend last night. The last few scenes still made me jump haha and made my girlfriend paranoid about the man hole in my roof :D
|
there's nothing more effective than a horro movie that starts out very light and non threatening ... and just when you start to forget it was a horror - all hell breaks loose.
i have to admit i'm really digging the 1st person camera films - especially when they've all been done so well lately |
I haven't seen this yet but I really want to.
I might watch it right now actually using that link Cactus posted. |
really good movie, ending is awesome/
i just saw the Quarantine trailer and the acting looks really bad, idk i think REC is way better, hope more people know bout it before they go and see Quarantine |
So I went to see The Strangers last night and there was a preview for [rec]'s American remake Quarantine (DAMN YOU! I WANTED TO AVOID ITS PREVIEWS!)...
I honestly home that its remake boosts [rec] popularity so it'll be available on Netflix. |
Ok.
I am TIRED of not having seen this movie. With the American remake coming out I really NEED to see this film first. I've checked on Amazon.com and Ebay with no results. Initial Google Search for "[rec] DVD" comes up with either Spanish DVD sites or reviewer sites announcing its release in Spain in May... Do you guys know of another site where I could buy the DVD? (I specify "buy" because, based on the feedback for it already, I do not want to watch it online and figure it's worth picking up). Any other DVD sites that you guys use to buy foreign release films? |
It will probably only come out in north america when the remake does.
I downloaded the DVD, I'll buy it when they let me buy it. |

chrono, if you have some way to download it (torrent or something), it's definitely worth it. |
Saw this two weeks ago at the Fantasia festival, awesome movie, they actually had to screen it thrice because of the insane response it got fro the public.
It actually was voted second best movie on the "world" side (there are prices for Asian movies and World movies), behind Sweden's "Let the Right One In" which is nothing short of stellar, altough very different from Rec... |
