Favorite DVD Case

Maybe i'm turning into the obsessive collector wannabe, but I like my dvds to look cool. Random, but, yeah. What are your favorite dvd cases that you own? I love the boxes for Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown, as well as:

Memento (SE)
Alien 1-4 Box
The Mist 2 disc se
Hellraiser anniversary addition
Versus (3 disc)

Yep, I saw it when it first came out - pretty sweet packaging.

Whats it like underneath the slipcover - just the same thing again?

*reaches toward shelf*

The front is, the back is basic dvd style. Description and such.

I think my all time fave is Jackie Brown. Can't forget the gas can of Reservoir Dogs as well.

Oooo...can't believe I forgot that one.

The 8-disc Batman anthology is pretty sweet, too.

I saw it at Borders today, it does look pretty nice. What do you think of Memento?

I just have the basic, one disc version...seen pics of the SE online, but I've never seen it "in person".

I see. I bought it just because it looked awesome. It was 8 bucks used at Moviestop. Great deal.

Sweet deal. I got the single disc version for the same price last summer...

Oh well, its an INCREDIBLE movie - I'm just glad to own it, boring case or not:p

alkytrio666 04-08-2008 04:16 PM

Well, if we're going with case looks, the Se7en 2-disc SE is the same thing...but cooler.

I need to buy that.

Hell... I need to WATCH se7en *ducks and covers*

The_Return 04-08-2008 04:27 PM

Oh, the Twin Peaks set is pretty sweet too:

http://www.jdmfilmreviews.com/images...peaks-dvd1.jpg

Oh, and the 2-disc CE of Serenity:

http://www.serenitystuff.com/wp-cont...collectors.jpg

Such an awesome case...opens really cool.

alkytrio666 04-08-2008 04:32 PM

I picked up the brand-new 2-disc SE of Bonnie and Clyde a couple weeks ago. The damn slip-case has bullet holes in it. Literal holes. Pretty bad ass.

crabapple 04-08-2008 04:34 PM

King Kong 1933 collector tin is cool...vintage poster reproduction on the front, nice metal case.

I also like the Walt Disney Classics tins, which look much similar...nice metal case with a vintage image on the front. Real classy-looking.

I saw the Serenity one at Borders also, I really liked it. Almost picked it up.

Despare 04-08-2008 04:49 PM

The velvet Hitchcock set is one of my favorites, I also have (on the same shelf actually) the Evil Dead 1 & 2 "Book of the Dead" editions, the imported Battle Royale ammobox set, the Universal Monsters set with the 3 busts, the Reservoir Dogs gas can, the Star Wars original trilogy DVD tin, and the Transformers "transforming" Optimus Prime case. Oops, didn't see the Saw special edition there with the blood filled case next to the Re-Animator with the syringe highlighter....... I'm such a dork.

Oh, and even though it's not on the same shelf as the others I have to mention my favorite... the Phantasm Sphere.

urgeok2 04-08-2008 05:35 PM

I have the Phantasm Sphere as well (courtesy of a UK ninja)

my other favorites are:

the Bladerunner Briefcase,

the tombs of the blind dead coffin

Evil Dead lunchbox

Scarface Cigar Box

Evil Dead - Book of the Dead

Wasn't there a Coffin Joe "coffin box"? That one looked cool. The Hellraiser cube looked cool too but somebody in the UK told me it was REALLY cheap feeling/looking. Oh, and I would have loved to get the Texas Chainsaw Massacre chainsaw box.

OH, OH! Another one I have, the Planet of the Apes Ultimate collection with the giant Ape bust holder. Not as cool as the Alien set with the Alien head case would have been but oh well. And hey, am I the only one that likes the little numbers that line up on Fox Collector's Edition movie slipcases? I wish I had them all...

Another easy to find one is the Zombi 2 25th anniversary edition, also the TCM tin and Dawn of the Dead Ultimate Edition. Buy those.

urgeok2 04-09-2008 09:07 AM

i have to add at this point - while i really dig cool looking box sets - they are bastards to store. odd-ball shaped mo-fos.

the worst one i have is this :

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a1/...darkwaters.jpg

great set (and it's signed by the actress, director, and producer ..)

but the box is like a HUGE oversized VHS box ... doesnt fit anywhere properly

bloody_ribcut 04-09-2008 09:09 AM

how much was the masters of horror set?

that looks bad ass.
