What scares you..........

In movies or real life or both.
For me it's the way that the girl in the ring 2 moves going up the well. that shit just creeps me out. also the clown in IT. In real life it's dark outside and i pull back the curtain and someones face is pressed up to the window. that has happened to me. I guess it's fear of the unknown.

my answer to this hasn't changed in over 20 years

in real life : Heights, and stupid people who reproduce.

i remember The Norliss Tapes scaring me as well.

it really doesn't matter. I have been able to swim since I was little but when you dont see it coming and suddenly you're under water things change.

Yeah I don't blame her. That kind of happened to me a few months ago when I baked a cake for my fiance, covered it lightly and leaving it on the counter, we went to dinner. Came back several hours later and uncovered the cake only to find it swarming with ants. The whole thing was ruined especially since i dumped probably a half a can of raid on it to kill those fuckers.:D God I hate ants.

That's not the worst, I grew up in a house with ants and they're those small black ones that you don't always see or feel on you right away. It's like you have to look twice sometimes because at far away you can't seem them until, "Why is the counter moving...OMG they're ants! And they're everywhere!" Creepy as hell.

A lot of people are afraid of spiders, I like spiders because they eat other bugs, like ants :)

I can swim but I had someone dunking me one time. He thought it was funny but it scared the shit out of me. I don't think dunking somebody is anything to laugh about. I don't like it when I'm in a lake and can't see what might be under me. Like things I do know can't be under me like a shark. But i have one hell of an Imagination.

With regard to films, 'scary' depends on your definition - like Urge said, you don't generally get genuinely scared by a film once you reach a certan age, particularly those who have seen a lot of horror films.

However, there is still certain imagery which can be effectively creepy and haunting - and it's usually when things which represent innocence are shown in a slightly offbeat way. They're not threatening in a physical way, but psychologically, as they go against what we have been conditioned to view as 'good', pure, and non-threatening.

For example, the female form in a non-sexual way - a little girl, or an elderly woman in a rocking chair - can be a creepy visual image if shown in a certain way that suggests something's not quite right. The same with clowns, dolls, and other such things that we generally associate with innocence. They're not going to beat us up, but it's more frightening on a psychological level, unlike a big monster or horde of zombies.

Human beings in power-high positions.
Police, for the most part, scare the ever-living shit out of me. When I hear stories about corupt cops and police brutality, it shakes me to the bones.

That and really deep dark water. But this one's kind of a fun, thrilling fear.

thunder and lightning. like the kind happening right now. ugh I wanna die.

The Lost.....WHOA!!!

Jack Ketchums The Lost is a movie that is so freaking scary that they dont even show the gruesome scenes. Your mind does all the work for you. Im almost certain that if they were to depict the scenes in the movie , that it would get banned in every city in every state in every country. This is truly one of those grippingly disturbing movies that will leave you troubled for at least a couple of days. Funny thing is that had I watched this when I was younger maybe between 12 and 16 i would have had it stuck in my mind for months maybe even years. But now that I'm older i was able to rest easliy after a few days. This movie will definitely shock you.

Lack of control. it's horrifying. I hate the thought of not being able to manage what's going on.

That's something I dislike in most situations but there's just no controlling some stuff so I dont see what your so afraid of.

Posher778 04-14-2008 03:09 PM

Oh, and can't forget, Rayne's mother.

Man, thats what I thrive off of.

Hate to break it to you, but in a world like this you have no control over ANYTHING. You dont even really have control of yourself - how do you know that you're even sane? Maybe all of this - everything you know - is just a creation of your own mind?

Even on a less metaphysical level, this world has WAY too many variables to believe in any kind of "control". You could be killed 30 seconds from now by an errant plane engine crashing into your house, or any of a million other random events.

Chaos all the way, baby - its the only way to live.

That's why you tweak reality in your favor. I'm not sane. It's obvious. But i control my world because I *decided* to. "there's a universe in all of us" :D
