Pimp Your Photography... Again

I don't have a lot really, I just want to see the great shots from you fine folks here at the HDC. Hmmmm, ok, here's one I took a while ago. Silhouette of a hummingbird in mid-flight.

i'll repeat a couple i posted in the other thread as this is the proper context.

I work on the 15th floor of an office tower and get some pretty interesting visitors on the landing outside my window.

Very nice shots of the sunset against the cityline and behind the tree.

I love the colors of the sky in the street-lamp one. Good eye for detail, Urge.

newb 03-13-2008 07:01 AM

love the colors in the last one.....and the lone bird sitting in the tree.

Urge...you gotta post your myspace pic with you and the M & Ms...thats classic:D

urgeok2 03-13-2008 07:02 AM

thanks ..

the 'behind the tree' one was a funny story ..

it was taken on a highway at top speed with my wife driving.
I was shooting between her face and edge of the driver side window .. just a tiny area ..

cant believe it worked out - let alone catching a bird in the tree.

i knew exactly when to take about 50 pictures in quick succession and find a couple worked out :)

photography is equal parts opportunity, a natural sense of composition, decent equipment, technical expertise, and luck.

lets just say i rely on luck - a lot.

_____V_____ 03-13-2008 07:10 AM

Maybe because you ALMOST look like a M & M candy yourself, from behind.

Its like looking at the pic and asking...guess which one is Urge in there?:D

90% of all pure chance is luck...so that aint a bad statistic to follow.

I will take 2 in 50 anyday, if the result is that fine piece of photography.:)

newb 03-13-2008 07:15 AM

I only have this one on my photobucket at the moment. Took this at Universal Studios....not easy taking a picture whilst shitting your pants.

Things like that are how I ended up in the Pacific Northwest. I grew up in Omaha, and one day I got off work at 2 PM and I couldn't find my car- it was buried under a snowdrift 1/2 block long. I moved to Oregon that year. It rarely snows here and I don't miss it one bit.

The TV's were at the Magic Hat Brewery in Birmingham, VT. They had weird, kooky stuff there. They make interesting and tasty beer, which we get here in Maryland.

Here's a few other pictures from their brewery.

I have most of those. Glad to see I'm not the only one who collects M&M merchandise.

i dont seek them out - but i buy them if i see them.

there are a few you cant see facing the other way - the golfers, the 2 watching a 3D movie, a MnMs remote control car, and some big ball thing with a guy sitting on either side

I don't seek them out either. Just a couple years ago when I was 12 or so my aunt asked my mom what I'd want. My mom said "Well, he likes Eminem" but I think she misunderstood, because every year since then I've gotten a new M&M item or two from her.
