Can anyone recommend any good '70s exploitation films?
I've seen Last House on the Left, I Spit on Your Grave, Island of Death, Torso, and a few more, but I need more! Can anyone recommend any good exploitation films of the '70s?

I've seen a ton of 70s exploitation, but one of my consistent favorites is Strip Nude for Your Killer. something about it (and not just the neckid ladies) is really cool and really good. I would recommend that one highly.

Here some I dig a lot... Deranged Blood and Lace Switchblade Sisters Lady Snowblood Last House On Dead End Street I'll add some later my mind is blank and I gotta go to work. |
Savage Weekend is surprisingly cool. Lady Snowblood is good, but for true grindhouse Sukeban sexploitation fun I recommend Sex and Fury or Terrifying Girl's High School:Lynch Law Classroom. Love those two.

I picked up Sex and Fury and Female Yakuza Tale last week I'll have to let you know what I think when I watch 'em in the next couple of days.
|
It's a fun genre, really gonzo exciting stuff. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

You have to see Satans Cheerleaders.
|
I recommend Bloodsucking Freaks, aka The Incredible Torture Show. It's very OTT, verging on rather misogynistic, with lots of scenes of naked women being tortured and killed in various ways - by the two main male characters, who are a guy who looks like a magician and his assistant who's a black dwarf with an afro hairstyle! To give you an idea of how high-brow and sensible the film is, there's a scene of a naked woman's bottom being used as a dartboard. Certainly not for the politically correct viewer!

^^ Great flick for sure... you seen the HG Lewis film The Wizard Of Gore? Kinda similar.
That doctor in BSF is really fucked up :D |

That doctor was perhaps even more twisted than the other two main men in the film, I seem to remember even they looked a bit disturbed when they were watching him! |
There are some FINE movies from the 70's that you have to see. Everyone has their favorites.
I personally am fond of a lot of these...BLACULA is cool, as are CHILDREN SHOULDN'T PLAY WITH DEAD THINGS, BEWARE THE BLOB, THE INCREDIBLE MELTING MAN, SQUIRM.......there are simply a lot of wonderful, weird, cool exploitation horror flicks from the 70's. Don't forget BEAST OF BLOOD and DRACULA VS. FRANKENSTEIN! And some 70's Paul Naschy films too...THE WEREWOLF VS. VAMPIRE WOMAN is one of the best of those. |

I dig Blue Sunshine a lot more than Squirm. Dead of Night (Deathdream) is great... I really hated Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things although the ending is cool and the zombies look great. |

I think Driller Killer is very underappreciated as a 70's exploitation film. Watched it again the other day, after hating it forever, and I was really smitten with it. Having seen Ms. 45, Driller Killer made a lot more sense. It's legitimate down and dirty punk cinema.

All of the above plus:
Women in Cellblock 9 I Spit on Your Corpse The Beast Sometimes Aunt Martha Does Dreadful Things The Love Thrill Murders Eugenie De Sade Salo, or the 120 Days of Sodom (art or exploitation?) The Night of the Sorcerers Drive In Massacre Emanuelle in America Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals Satan's Cheerleaders SS Hell Camp Sugar Cookies Werewolf Woman So many great films in this era. |

I'm really excited. I just got a query approved on an article about him, so I'm going to be watching his movies for the next couple days and hopefully turning out a good one.

love it as well. it wasn't until recently that i found out that the director was also the star. |
Bad Lieutenant is my favorite flick of his.... it never gets the respect it deserves.
|
Picked it up yesterday. Thank you for reminding me. I almost forgot that was him.
