Listen to this!

I've shamelessly ripped off Murderdoll for this thread.
Post a song for everybody to see, somebody listens to it and gives their opinion followed by a suggestion of their own. No "haven't heard it" option here, it's required you hear the song. I'll start it off with...

The Zutons - Zuton Fever

X¤MurderDoll¤X 03-02-2008 01:06 AM

I liked it, reminded me of a friend's band in high school.

Dead and Lovely - Tom Waits

is my suggestion

p.s you are WITHOUT shame... :p

Elvis_Christ 03-03-2008 02:41 AM

Tom Waits is solid

ANTISECT - and yet they still ignore

Not bad, the voice and the music don't mesh though, almost like one the voice was overproduced and then added later. Not a huge fan of the lyrics but they're not the worst I've ever heard. There is a great energy level there however, almost makes me tired listening to it, they do a great job of projecting that. I'd probably listen to it a couple more times before it sunk to the bottom of my playlist never to be resurrected. Hard to find too.

I'll stick with Disease, somebody listen to...

The Birthday Party! yack yack yack yack yack goes junkfaaaaaaaaace

I don't think anyone has ever been cooler than Nick Cave in the early 80's, too bad I wasn't alive yet though. :(

That video was crazy... the song wasn't too bad but I'll definitely remember the video over the music on that one. I liked the second song more than the first one.

i've actually been a fan of her for quite a few years now.
she's really great live (or, at least she used to be as of a couple years ago- her past two albums i haven't really been a fan of).

anyway:
although this style has been done many times before (and since), i've always felt kaki king puts her own spin on that style of playing; bold and brazen. "playing with pink noise" is no exception. although she has way better songs, this one is a lot of fun.

I think you should make this thread in general, only a select few people come in here.

Maybe I will, perhaps I'll wait till that asshole leaves again, anyway even your thread which I really liked didn't make it. I think people don't want to try and watch something that they don't already have the desire to see. I think your thread ended with my three (damn good) picks.

I don't like this one... there's too much noise and not enough music. Lose the background stuff and I could see myself liking it more. Those woman and they're wooooooooooooo-ooooooooo-ooooooooing make me want to kick something. Not much cup of java.

How about the Sublime song "Seed"...

Tell their singer that he's obviously a fan of Tom Gabel's singing. ;)

I was going to post an example but...

sadly, I couldn't find

a) a good video
b) studio recording

this is one of my favorite songs.

Dante'sInferno 03-27-2008 03:54 AM

I'm not a huge fan of instrumentals, but like most NIN it makes me want to have massive hard, violent sex.

...

Honestly, though, I think that Reznor's sounds are generally more meticulous in regards to mixing, timing, and the dynamicism of sound and voice. I would say that this is probably one of their more weaker pieces, though would go great in a slasher/horror montage of a massive, bloody killing spree (like most of their music).

...

On a lighter note, how about the Decemberist's "Mariner's Revenge Song":

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CaNV7eCU2R0

It's a silly YouTube adaptation, but, rock on young Youtubers. Rock on.

I like me sea shantys, though not so fond of this one sorry...

This is one of my faveorite bands over the last five years, I remember seeing them a number of times when they first moved to Melbourne from W.A back around 2003, only a handfull of people at thier shows and I would go home with my ears ringing and my mouth grinning for days... now they sell out some of the bigger venues that international bands don't manage to back home..

This is the first time I've seen this video so lets enjoy it together.

I love you like an amputee

Holy shit, Disease, this is fucking brilliant.

Initial reaction: Ooo. My indie band senses are tingling.
Following reaction: Lyrically powerful, strong, and intelligent.

They're emotionally strong without being too preachy, which, honestly, isn't easy to do. Makes me want to listen to more of their stuff. Fantastic recommendation.

...

These guys most definitely had one of the best albums of 2007:

Fucking love it.

There are links from that drones video to more of thier stuff, not a lot of great quality because they are so fucking loud live... but worth checking out still...

That one kind of bugged me, a few good changes but really passed me buy.

This is a band that are now defunct, they went to America and toured a bit then split up..

I went to high school with the drummer though we didn't hang out, met him when this banned formed as I was a huge fan of the singers origanal band from Tasmania called the Sea Scouts. I even wrote a screenplay with the main character based on his stage presence..

We talked about it a few times and he was keen if I got it into production, but I've since put it aside.

Anyway, this is something from one of the nasty bands I've seen in a pub over the last ten years.

I just went so I'll give other people a chance, but I'm curious to see what trent reznor is like sober now. (about the upcoming tour)

no drugs and no alcohol makes trent a dull boy methinks.

My bad. I will listen to both of yours now and you listen to both of mine and I will tell you what I think and you do the same also.

Custard - Lucky Star - Pretty cool track. Music is nice and upbeat. The chorus is very catchy.

The Fauves - I'll Work When I'm Dead - For the last year and a few months this song was my theme song. Really cool and funny type of song to me.

Now check out my band:
