I was really surprised Tilda Swinton got it, but she really did deserve it. There was no question about Javier. It was the only sure-win other then Daniel Day Lewis (I will officially croak if he doesn't get it.)

The Bourne Ultimatum is sort of cleaning up with the technical awards.
|
YES!!
Daniel won!:D |
Yep! Saw There Will Be Blood two days ago, and his performance is still sinking in. Absolutely brilliant, one of the best performances I've seen in the last decade.
|
I wonder if this means No Country For Old Men will be taking best picture as well.
|
Here are the big ones you all care about:
Best Picture No Country for Old Men Best Director Joel & Ethan Coen Best Original Screenplay Juno Best Adapted Screenplay No Country for Old Men Best Actor Daniel Day Lewis Best Supporting Actor Javier Bardem Best Actress Marion Cotillard Best Supporting Actress Tilda Swinton |
Nice that Juno won. I know I said Gilroy for Michael Clayton in the other thread, but either or is cool.
I also said Clooney for Michael Clayton, however, definitely nothing wrong with Day-Lewis taking it. |

There is still some justice in the world. Although I would have preferred Julie Christie or even Ellen Page to win Best Actress. Honorable Shoutout to Paul T. Anderson for There Will Be Blood. A really fantastic director. |
The only category I was peeved about was Best Supporting Actress.
Tilda Swinton over Amy Ryan? Come on, Academy. Open your eyes. |

I havent seen Michael Clayton so I cant comment on Swinton. My favorite movie that I seen in 2007 was Gone Baby Gone and I thought everyone did a great job in that movie. Amy Madigan was good but her part was too small.
|
Marion Cotillard is absolutely gorgeous! Another babe was George Clooney's girlfriend.
|
As usually disappointed little bit. There was only a single award (Achievement in Music score) for ATONEMENT! I think this one of the year's best deserved some more.
Anyway, the best awards of the night are Best Supporting Actor to Javier Bardem & Best actor to Daniel Day Lewis. |
I knew DDL and Javier were a lock.
I am glad No Country For Old Men basically was the movie of the night because in my eyes it was the best of the year. |

I was glad to see the indie artist duo win best song. As she said- it was a real sign that independent artists can make it if they really try. On a larger scale, it's a great message to the major music labels that they have stiff competition.
Also glad to see La Vie En Rose win best actress. That was a real surprise. I'm a big Edith Piaf fan and Marion Cotillard was stunning. |
I found La Vie en Rose a little uneven, but the directing and pacing were at fault for that. Cotillard's performance was incredible, nuanced in ways that your standard issue best actress performance isn't.
|
I still think the Oscars are over-rated. True recognition comes from the fans.
|
I enjoyed the tribute to all the fallen actors/actresses/writers etc.

You missed it.

I think they left out Brad Renfro though.
|
Ratatouille deserved to win.

I was excited that mostly everything I wanted from the Oscars occured. Minus Ellen Page not winning for Juno.

I'm suprised the Cohen brothers did so well. I did relly enjoy the movie, but if they didn't win with many of their previous movies I gave them no chance here.
