Is it true that they took out the hitchiker with the camera in the newer version. If they did then they pretty much screwed the movie up. And did anyone like the new Carrie. I thought that it was way too long. The old version was much better.

the hitchhiker is gone, replaced by a girl that *spoiler* blows her own head off (only good scene in the whole movie)

I remember seeing a horror show and they had interviewed the person who played Leatherface in the original. He said that they had asked him to play Leatherface in the newer version, but that they were not going to make it a quote "bloodbath" like the original. He declined. That and taking out the guy kind of ruins the movie.

I thought that taking out the hitchiker was a mistake, but it was a remake to each his own I guess. I havent seen the new Carrie but my understanding was that it was more true to the book than the old film.

It was truer to the book, but it was just so long. I couldn't sit threw it.

Of course it's not as good as the original, but it's almost there. Great remake IMO.

yah i seen this it was like a documentary about horror directers i think it was called masters of horror. yah and the guy who played leather face, they told him it was going to be a more phychological movie compaired to the original (you already said this) just being a bloodbath. the guy who played leather face said "wait have you ever seen this movie?"

no beacuse times have changed and so have horror movies

Very true. The original isn't half as gory as the film leads you to believe it is. However, I haven't seen the new one, so I can't comment on it.

trust me the new one is shit compaired to the old one.

The remake isn't that gory either. IMO it was made more so to scare you and make you jump, not disgust you.

the updated version of carrie wasn't that bad but it was a little to long IMO. but it was also nice they wanted to stay true to the book unlike some other movies based off books. haven't seen the remake of TCM yet. does any one know when its to b released on dvd?

i thought tcm 2003 was a good movie. my complaints are that i almost fell asleep because i didn't think that it would ever end. but aside from that it was pretty good.

Wow...

For when the original TCM first came out it was pretty gorey to the standards of that time. Then again it was made to be more gorey and shot that way. Yet, it was cut out to get a releasable rating.

imo it was a cross between the original and scream or any other teenie-bopper movie where the goodguys were "beautiful" people and everyone else was ugly. still pretty good though.

The new TCM impressed me because I could finally see how the original TCM and the original Psycho were based on the same serial killer. Before then I could never make the connection and they seemed too different to be based on the same person.

I'm I the only one who noticed that?

If you watch TCM 2003 again, I would suggest watching Psycho first.

AND A BETTER CAST: WELL I THINK WITH 1 FLAW THAT AMANDA BIEL OR WHATEVER HER NAME IS TO TAKE A POP- TEEN MOVIE IDOL AND PUT HER IN TCM REMAKE IS DUMB

lol - I liked the remake but it was no where near better than the original. Better cast? Bigger budget. This movie was made to grab a quick buck from the teen community it was made toward that. The amount of screaming in the first had a point...
