What's wrong with the sci-fi channel?

Seriously, their made for TV movies scrape the bottom of the barrel. They should call it the "B-Movie Channel." I'm not expecting high art every week or anything, but damn, they can do better. And they show wrestling, too ... what's up with that?

That shit's wack, yo.

Roderick Usher 02-01-2008 02:06 PM

they suck over there. the people running the show have no concept what a real fan of sci-fi and fantasy wants.

but this one isn't too bad...

Oh there is sooooo much wrong with the Sci Fi channel, its hard to know where to begin. Some of the movies are so bad they are amusing, but mostly they are just a bore (except for Mammoth of course....;) , which I haven't seen, but I will, I will), the schedule seems to be changing constantly, so if I happen to really want to watch something....a lot of times...its not there when I try. Its very annoying.

http://www.netflix.com/Movie/Mammoth...1362317619_0_0

you can now rent Mammoth

Psycom5k 02-01-2008 02:28 PM

There are a few things on that are good, but normally they are really late, Like the old Twilight Zone series. I like watching Ghost hunters too, and then they have The X-Files, but i've seen those too many times allready. Other than that they got a bunch of lame movies. And I used to be big into wrestling, then it got old, which was back when it was just WWF. The Sci-Fi channel used to be my favorite, not anymore.

missmacabre 02-01-2008 02:32 PM

At least Sci-fi has some original programming. The Canadian equivalent, Space, just plays repeats of Stargate SG1. Smallville and Battlestar Gallactica. The "original programming" is Hypaspace, a five minute daily sci-fi/fantasy news show and It Came from the Basement, again about 5 minutes long, this time about the junk people collect. Oh, and let's not forget the Spaceys, an awards show of sci-fi, fantasy and horror.

Yeah but you guys have Trailer Park Boys, so that makes up for it.

Sci-Fi channel went down hill back in '99 when MST3K ended.

Except for Gryphon, which i haven't seen, i actually liked the two above. You haven't got a whole lot to be ashamed of in my eyes, Sean.

Who has made the covers by the way. Looks damn nice all of them.

Oh, MAN how I've wanted to see either Kracken or Gryphon... But my boyfriend has steered me away... Probably wisesly.

But, OH do I love the cheese... Komodo Dragon or King Cobra, anyone?

Disease 02-01-2008 07:36 PM

To tell you the truth I'd watch anything Rod has written if I could get my hands on it, just to to get a good grasp on his style and apreciate it for what it is, but those posters made me laugh...

I really want to come to L.A and push some ideas...

aye! that's the truth. they used to show a bunch of awesome movies and such, but goodness. today i shudder at all the sci-fi "soap operas" they show now. eck.

ghost hunters is the only worthwhile program on there these days.

What's Wrong With The Sci Fi Channel!

The major problem that I have with the Sci Fi Channel is that the commercials are constantly interrupted by the movies!

Actually I believe that some of the commercials have commercial interruptions!

You'll really get very, very little of me out of these flicks - I was heavily rewritten on each one. Mammoth is kind of funny, but not really. The rest suck ass.

I can't wait for DAMNED to come out. It really is the most ME I've put into a script.

Disease 02-01-2008 08:45 PM

being rewritten must be like being skinned alive...

I can't take it, which is why none of my stuff has been made, besides the fact that I wont, let a hack direct any script of mine either. But Mamoth you say, I'll try and find it.

GorePhobia 02-02-2008 04:16 AM

I watched Kraken and it was horrible. But I did enjoy it more knowing Sean was involved.

I wanna see Mamoth though.

Vodstok 02-02-2008 06:09 PM

sci fi used to have some great stuff. MST3K was good (not great, it was classic with joel, dr forrester and tv's frank); farscape, the invisible man... they used to do marathonds for every holiday, and the between show commercial interludes used to be interesting, especially during a marathon (they tied together as the hours passed)

the creativity left the channel years ago, replaced by greed.

sean hit the nail on the ehad; they dont know shit about what sci-fi and fantasy fans want to see.

friday13thfan 02-04-2008 04:38 PM

Sci-fi is not the best but remember their aren't many alternative channels out there. Least none I have seen.

missmacabre 02-05-2008 10:35 AM

I remember the sci-fi channel's Dune mini-series was really good. Children of Dune with Susan Sarandon wasn't great though.

So we should watch crap because there's no other alternative?

I DON'T THINK SO.

Zero 02-05-2008 01:49 PM
