This is my first game for my 360, and it fucking kicks ass.
Mafia mixed with demons. Free roaming new york city First person Shooter. i swear. everybody needs check it out. this is an ultra-violent masterpiece., its expansive and highly interactive.

I just finished it, I loved it. Don't know why the critics thought it was so bad... :(

I give this game a ten on ten for the demon arm alone. The voice acting was also amazing.

I almost picked this up, but I believe I will wait awhile before purchasing anymore games.

I've only played the demo but I really enjoyed it, I'll be picking it up for sure.

I don't generally resurrect old threads, but this game has come highly recommended from Mothman and VC and, well, I want to hear more about it.

What are its strengths? What are its weaknesses?

I'm currently looking for a new Xbox360 game... Just beat Bioshock which was possibly one of the best video games I have ever played (regardless of system). I bought Assassin's Creed but, as I mentioned before I thought it beautiful, a huge massive world, but no side quests or options to explore or do anything but kill soldiers.

I started with Mass Effect and it just didn't grab me right away... It could get better but I am honestly surprised that it didn't snag me from the getgo.

Is The Darkness that game that I'm looking for? It's one thing to read reviews, but I like hearing feedback from you guys too. Personally, I thought that the reviews for Mass Effect was off; wish I had reached out to you guys first.

So. Anyway. The Darkness. Tell me about it. I'm intrigued.

Personally, I found it to be a lot like Bioshock. From the visuals, to the control, to the way everything flowed.

It's a lot of action, but at the same time, it has a developing story, and it's something I enjoyed a lot. I'll put it this way, after I beat Bioshock, none of the other games I have really compared. This one, I wound up, every night for a week, playing this until 3am. And I quit because I was about to pass out.

This one held my attention, as much or more than Bioshock. This one is a little darker (it's a mafia game, what do you expect?), but it's just as satisfying.

As far as the things I didn't like about it...Well...It ended...And the fact that a lot of the time you're playing, you're walking from point A to point B. It's not that bad, because it's driving you into the action. It's pretty fast paced, but some points in it, are a little slow. The same with Bioshock I suppose.

As far as good things...Everything but the bad things. :D

its te greatest shooter ive ever played on a console. Awesome, unrelenting gunplay, up close exucution moves never get old. Vamp is right, there are some slow parts, but not many, and there more than enough to make up for it.

Chrono, i may have misled you with Mass Effect, but not with this one.

I think one of the highlights of the game was when you go to "hell", such as it is. Spooky, yet very atmospheric and artsy at the same time.

when your girlfriend is killed, i'd say is one of the shocking moments of a game ive ever played, as well as the part where you're tied up and get drilled, and then let the darkness take over and kick some ass.
as for hell, agreed, im a fan of the giant train cannon thingy.

That's EXACTLY what I wanted to hear... It's funny because after Bioshock, I thought that maybe there just wasn't anything else. VC, you obviously know my pain. :p

What other games do you play? I'm starting to think that I might be into horror games, after all.


Mothman - Those clips. Are. Awesome. I just checked on Amazon and, hey, I can get The Darkness for $20... Can't really go wrong with that price, so why the hell not?

No sweat with the Mass Effect rec - Maybe I just didn't play it long enough to get into it? But the thing about Bioshock was that it grabbed me right away... I'm starting to think that maybe I'm not into scifi games as much as I'm just into horror games. I think that I'll have to pick up The Darkness and start looking at other horror games after that.

That's right - The Darkness just came in today. Perfect timing too; I was taking a mental health day from work and it was the perfect way to unwind.

And I have to say...

Holy shit. The game is pretty damn good. My only complaint so far is that the controls are a little sketchy sometimes and I think that the walking/moving is a little sluggish.

Good GOD I thought that the whole game was going to revolve around the mob (not that it would have been that horrible; I was just starting to get a little bored with it) and just when I thought I was bored... I WOUND UP IN HELL.


Little unexpected turn... And I LIKE it (despite the fact that it's a little scary). I haven't gotten very far in this WWI-like-Hell, but I'm pretty impressed with this turn.

After I finish The Orange Box, I'm going to play The Darkness on a harder difficulty level.

I never noticed the walking to be sluggish, or the controls to be odd at all. To me, it was about the same as BioShock. *Shrugs* Maybe I just didn't notice it.

Try out Condemend 2 when you get the chance too. Whole game is creepy as hell, and the gameplay looks like your playing out a movie.

Could also be that I'm still video game retarded. It takes me a while to get used to game controls; for the first hour I played The Darkness I kept on accidentally making myself crouch. lol

Every time I'm in Blockbuster, I pick up the Condemned... But I'm a HUGE pussy and I'm pretty sure that it'll scare the shit out of me (I was ridiculously whiny while in WWI-Hell... "Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaark (boyfriend)... This game is scaaaaaaaaaaaaaaary.") hahaha

I've played both. The second one wasn't as scary, in my opinion. It has better graphics, and a better combat system though.

The first one is horrific compared to most games. It took me a little bit to get used to it.

If you don't like scary games, do NOT play this one. I got one of my friends that's huge horror fan to play it. He pissed his pants. haha!

Ok. Apparently I am also a textbook masochist because that comment makes me want to play the game even more. :p

Ive only played the demo for the first condemned, but the second one has more combat aspects, better graphics, enviroments, ect. 2nd one is better.

I think Mike Patton did a amazing and unforgettable job as The Darkness, and I hope if they make a equal that he will reprise his role.

I actually hope that there is a sequel; I think that this was a fantastic game with some UI issues - I think that if the darkness WWI aspect of it were expanded, too it would be an even better game.
