Thoughts?

I can't seem to be able to seach for a thread that involves this film.

I liked the back story for Jigsaw, but I think the plot was a little convoluted in terms of the times things occured...bit annoying that they throw that in just to "surprise" you, all it really did was make things confusing.
I did, however like it a lot more than the 3rd film.
Although, if I am to see the fourth again I will probably watch #3 before it, as they tie in somewhat.
Overall, I think it was better than 3, about even keel with 2 (could've been better if the plot was a little more straightfoward, or the twist better executed), but still, not as good as the first.

All I know is Saw IV has the best quarrel scenes in all Saw movies because the story revolves around the quarrel of all the participants in Jigsaw's tests.

I did like Saw 4 but I think I will have to watch it again to love it lol.
I was left a bit confused and I think I need to know more, perhaps this was the point to leave me wanting a 5th film. The opening scene for me was the best, true jigsaw style with good gore. There was a lot happening in this film and I think it would take me to watch them all again to really understand and enjoy. The creative new "games" and over all "game" impressed me, some excellent scenes.
All in all though I enjoyed Saw4.

I'm sure there are plenty if you bothered to look.

Hmmm, I think it is the time when Jigsaw wants to have a successor by making other people kill each other.

I saw this on Monday night and it took me until now to fully grasp everything that happened. I hate when people cast two actors that look similar, very confusing but I'm kinda slow.

I had exactly the same issue with the 2 actors you're talking about...

okay then maybe I'm not slow. It definately didn't help that I had left to go to the washroom at a pretty inopportune moment but it's good to know I'm not alone here.

Maybe it's just me but when they got to the end and I realized the entire thing was really a flashback, and that all of it was happening concurrently with Saw III, I just sat there stunned. And then I had to laugh because it is very rare that a movie catches me off guard.
I liked it. I liked it far better than Saw II (I think his apprentice was waaaay too emotional and whiny) and about on par with Saw III. What was even more interesting was that even as they're digging deeper in to Jigsaw's past they're leaving flashes of things that aren't really fully explained. And given that this story is now 4 movies deep and we're still getting the explanation for why things happened in the first movie, it now seems that they're setting the stage for a story that's at least two more movies deep. Having read that Saw V and VI are confirmed recently, that backs up the idea.
A complicated movie is different from an intricate movie. I really enjoyed the skill with which they wove the different stories of the various people together, and the clues they planted along the way. These movies will have some seriously high replay value for me because I'll be able to go back multiple times and piece together things that I saw but probably dismissed the first time. I also appreciate any movie where the director that makes the movie expecting his audience to be smart enough to catch all the clues and think through things. Too many movies hand you a two dimensional story these days or dumb it down for you. I never intended to become a big fan of the series but I fine I'm closing in on form fangrrl-dom with it.

Ya my boyfriend was a little confused with the flashback of it all. He looked at me wierd and I told him they pulled a bit of a Tarantino and he was fine.

I was the opposite though, i like Saw 4 about the same as Saw2 and more than 3. Saw 3 bored me.

I'm glad they aren't just making sequels for moneys sake and that the story line still makes sense.

I thought Saw IV was better than the third, but was still lacking in some places. I loved the back story for Jigsaw, and I thought the traps were great as always. But, I thought there was too much going on for one film. There was Jigsaw's backstory, the cop's game, and the investigation. I kept losing track of each one. And when they all come together at the end, I thought it was just laughable. Speaking of the end, I thought the "twist" was predictable. I figured it out in the beginning. At least the first three had surprising endings. Don't let the negative get too much in the way though. I thought the fourth one was still a lot of fun to watch, just hard to keep up with.

I liked the gore, but left the theatre confused..

I went with my cousin and he made a good point that Saw 4 would have been better if it was Saw 3 and Saw 3 was Saw 4 (if the way I explained it makes any sence)

You can't make it for money when you make 28mil. a movie

But if they don't stop at 5 or 6 then we will know. But even if they did make it for that reason, it wouldn't be as ludacris as if Micheal bay made transformers 5, making 300mil. a movie.

I liked this movie, probably my second favourite horror movie of the year. The best part was when the little doll was laughing on the chair and the police woman leans close to the doll and it's head explodes in her face. I love those little laughing dolls, the laugh is cool as.

I really need to watch it again. I agree there was so much going on that I need a re-watch to have it all make sense. I look forward to the dvd as the theatre version often cuts out the really good gore.

I'm confused.

Me and my friends didn't understand something. In the end of the movie, Jigsaw appears lying in the place he died on Saw III. But if he's there at that point, then how the hell did he get (earlier) to the autopsy table (when they find the tape on his stomach)?

I really enjoyed the first 3 Saw movies but I thought Saw 4 was the worst of the series. It had too many holes and it was confusing at times. The Saw series took a step back with this movie. I think its time to end the series now.
