real metal getting real popular...BAH!!!
i am officialy pissed, im pissed of... dont know if this exists in america but i just saw a comercial for a cd witch title i cannot remember...it was something rock... included songs from among other sins of thy beloved, entombed and in flames... is metal getting popular all of a sudden? am i about to become a majority?
any thoughts on this god damned cursed cd? in the mean time il need a few rounds on my punching bag... BAAAH!!!! |
I wouldn't worry about it getting exceedingly popular. I imagine I will NEVER hear Entombed on the radio here. Just don't see it happening.
|
its a comercial dammit..... do you have any idea how manny people are weak enough to fall for a good comercial?
i dont see it getting realy popular but its on its way up and its pissing me of...first satyricon...then dimmu....now nightwish...whats next? |
Of course it's on its way up. Your country and surrounding area happens to be home of the metal gods right now. As Atom and His Package says "All they do for fun is kill each other and play guitar." Hehe, funny song. You can only keep a band in your back pocket for so long. This has happened to many of the bands I love. You just can't help. If their truly a great band, they probably will find a larger audience.
Still won't hear them on the radio around here though. Maybe in bigger cities. I feel your pain Moon. |
this is a guitar shaped country for a reasons, the norwegians finns and sweeds are the metal countrys but i wasnt expecting demi gods like sins of thy beloved to be on a comercialised cd...not even a woman can cause this much pain.

I try my best to ignore it when my tunes are being commercialized. It's sad for me b/c the same people who listen to Sum 41 and Good Charlotte are now listening to AFI. Can't win them all. |
yes, it's true
its beginning to get popular after bands like sorry to say, linkin park who got famous with their one step closer song it set the wheel in motion bands like children of bodom get more popular, these people mostly like the new stuff only, so, lol, just think that through for yourself it's like, damn dude, metallicas new album is so good, but i don't like the old albums, you get that shit for the record, i love old metallica, so |
I've seen tons of great compilation cds that I've bought that has metal on it.
But here in the US, there aren't any commercials for them. Atleast I haven't seen one. Plus over where you live, it's probably expected since you guys have the best music around. |
the day old mans child and sirenia apear in comercials im going to cut my own heart out with a spoon...a rusty one.
|

nah, just wanted to see that spoon thing:D |
oy! you almost got me killed you...mudsliptones...whatever the heck that is...
|
awww, are people liking the same bands as you now? Too bad nobody fucking cares.

Take a look at In Flames and Cradle Of Filth...well DaaD was alright, but not as good as their older stuff. |
If they have so little character or intelligence that they would change their music to piss off the older fans, only to realize that the people who didn't like their music before won't listen to them now, then fuck 'em, they aren't worth supporting anyways.
But then, who am I to talk? Most of my favorite bands are either dead, retired or...Pink Floyd and Aerosmith. |
Pink Floyd Owns!
|
but, they're popular, that means they CAN'T be good!

i like older metallica better then the junk on saint anger. i even tryed to stop my brother from buying it. i gotin to metallica cuz of my brother being a big metallica fan. i like the songs enter sand man and one. |
Quote:
like you first hear st anger, cause of rising popularity on the radios and tv then you think, they are good, I want to hear more of them, and you buy ride the lighting, these people would say that it sucks, but it doesn't, thats my point |
Korn is pretty popular but that did not stop them from putting out kick ass albums, Take a look in the mirrior truly rocks, and they even make a song about how the record companys wan't them to be maistream so in the song they say "fuck that" about 100 times to mock them.:D

david gilmore didnt do such a bad job...they were better off before though

They peaked with The Wall. Wish You Were Here was almost as good, but the Shine On You Crazy Diamons songs kinda dragged a bit. They just weren't the same without Roger Waters.
|
Who cares if metal becomes the majority? I'd be greatful if people would finally start listening to good music instead of some of the trash that's been coming out lately.
Hell, I think everyone should listen to bands like In Flames. They're masters of their craft. |
Ya know what should get popular? Boom Town Rats. I Don't Like Mondays was a great song. I'd much rather here it all over the place than Outkast's "Hey Now" song

I'm with Sam. Old bands are good. Too bad music like that will probably never make any sort of a comeback.
All sorts of music are going downhill.. Mainly pop. And if metal ever becomes pop, you can be sure it'll go downhill as well. Oh, and fuck Linkin Park. They rank somewhere between Blink 182 and Good Charlotte. Bunch of pansy asses if I ever seen some. Gag me with a spoon. |

I don't think it'll turn out like the eighties. That'd be odd. |
it was on the top seller list in freerecrodshop in oslo.... in flames... the sins of thy beloved, children of bodom... anyone who knows his/her metal knows thats real metal... it simpley shouldnt be on a top seller list, who came up with the idea of squeezing real metal on a cd and comercialise it?

Don't do that " I'm so metal and underground it hurts " thing man... I love metal to death, and to see bands like In Flames and CoB hit the bigtime is cool with me. |
trash my views all you want it wont change them, it shouldnt be on any fucking comercial, it doesnt have any place there, i dont mind it being liked, but the whole world shouldnt have it stuffed in its face like some god damn nsync album.
|
Two words,
Who cares? |
well obviously moonsorrow does! i must admit to pangs of regret when a band i held as a special secret became big (the verve's first two records and two eps were interstellar, then the bag of sh*t that is 'urban hymns' got mainstream).. there's no doubt that a transformation sometimes occurs and the music *can* get watered down as it is projected to a larger audience. age'll also do this to you, a sort've inevitable drift as you get older.. look at early sabbath vs. the ballads of 80s ozzy as an example!
all that said, we shouldn't begrudge our favorites any success. they're the same as us, just after a more comfortable life, trying to get paid for doing something they love. that's very bloody difficult in the music biz. if you became a successful musician, how would you feel if an irritated fan approached you with the comment, 'oh i wish you'd stayed underground.' you'd be like, 'f*ck off pal, i've earned this or been extremely lucky, or both, and i'm gonna enjoy it!' well, i guess i would anyway! how gracious of me..! AND even if your favorite band 'makes it,' there will always be an underground. it's sorta like shark teeth.. i know next to nothing about scandanavian metal but have heard of 'emperor' and 'cirkle' being pretty formiddable, though the latter could hardly be considered straight metal (far from it) |
buddys says it best, thats exactley what im talking about... what if the sins of thy beloved starts adapting its style the a wider audience? i mean shit cutting back on the crazy violins... would be wrong, it would just be wrong.

---Topic--- well here in québec its still fucking nu-metal that is always on TV! if its not nu-metal its punk or rap!they dont even show Iron Maiden. And when metallica were real metal they were never on tv but now that they do nu-metal they show them every hours!!! |
*Marks @ Project Mayhem's Av*
Hair metal wasn't so bad...except for Ratt |
Buddy said it well.
At the end of the day it's not as if Metallica is at number one. And if they were so what? On the other hand if a band changes it's ethics/style simply for money then it's wrong, but hwo's to blame them? At the end of the day they're humans and they can do what the fuck they like. Except murder and rape etc. |

hey i got a bit peed-off recently when i heard ween's 'ocean man' on a car commercial. i mean, i guess they've been trying to do tongue in cheek ad music for a while.. they had a pizza hut jingle rejected that went 'where'd the m*therf*ckin' cheese go?'
