Actually about to leave the computer now...The baby has been asleep for about two hours and I REALLY should have been sleeping, too, since I don't get many opportunities to sleep...But, instead I chose to hang out here for a while, and take a 'baby-free' breather

It was nice

I'm gonna go fall asleep watching a movie :)

G'night All

These claims of boredom I kept hearing from people these days frustrate me. A junior high English teacher said something to me (well, to the class) MANY moons ago that changed my life. She said "Only idle minds become bored." And without pointing finfers here (I'm taking this opportunity to make a general point) - it really is true. If your mind is active you will NEVER be bored.

Exercise your mind! Do you have interests? Do you have passions? You are sitting with the world's greatest entertainment, informational & educational resource at your fingertips. Seriously- I haven't been bored in over 40 years- quite the opposit- I never have time to do, read, watch, research, play everything I want to.

Every second you're alive you have infinite possibilities in front of you. Make some interesting choices.

the_man_you_fear 09-25-2007 10:06 PM

you make a really good point man

Psycom5k 09-25-2007 10:27 PM

Yeah, thats kinda like the old saying "Idle hands are the devils playthings." Although..... I think the hands one is about how masturbation is a bad thing..... I could be wrong...

Except I was 12 years old when that statement had an effect on me. Don't close your mind to everything "old people" have to say. I listened to what my teacher had to say (I guess that's terribly uncool, eh?) and it enriched my life immensely. Instead of sitting around being bored half my life, I've experienced quite a bit.

Actually I find it more cool that somebody actually listens to their teachers. God knows how the world would be in the 15 year olds would use birth control..... btw, my sister and at least 8 of her freinds are either pregnant or have kids, and I am hugely pissed off at this generation(I'm noting that I am in this generation also.) for generally having unprotected sex, and for the most part, ruining alot of chances that they would have if they had not gotten pregnant.

Yeah, its kinda a sore spot for me because my sister dropped out of school, and she was going to graduate this year.

neverending 09-25-2007 11:14 PM

Well, I guess your sister being pregnant totally invalidates my point.

Psycom5k 09-25-2007 11:17 PM

Yeah, that sucks doesn't it? It sucks worse for me because now I'm tied to a fucking moron, that can't spell LANE or MCDONALDS correctly, by blood. Oh yeah, not to mention the fact that he was disowned by his family for MOLESTING his little sister. I tell you, sometimes I want to blow my own head off.

That's similar to what I tell my kids (well, mostly Dustin's son really, because he ALWAYS used to say he was bored)..."Only boring people get bored"...There is ALWAYS something to do...But, a boring person wouldn't be able to think of anything...So, to avoid being 'boring', they always come up with something

Also, about the 'net thing...I always tell them "You have all the information in the world, right there in that little box"...Encyclopedias, dictionaries, instruction manuals, images, EVERYTHING...If you want to learn more about ANYTHING...Just look it up"

From How the General Forum Is Supposed To Work

"4) People who create threads just to get people to talk to them...This would be someone who might say (over and over again) things like, "I don't like the other sections because no one will RESPOND to me there"...and..."Come on people, why won't you TALK to me?"...or..."I was really hoping for more responses in my thread"...And..."I need someone to entertain me"

Sorry...A forum isn't created with the sole purpose to stave off YOUR individual boredom, and people don't join with the sole intent to AMUSE YOU

When someone DOES create threads like this (usually MULTIPLE threads, in hopes of eliciting MORE responses), it tends to piss people off, but the 'attention seeker' usually enjoys this because in that way he IS getting responses...However, for the rest of the forum, it is beyond tiresome, and any NEW people who may consider joining (and could potentially bring us something BETTER to discuss, or at least add some interesting input) is turned away because of all the garbage they see here... "

*It's amazing how some people don't bother reading these things*

Sorry had to be done

It's perfectly fine...And that was why I mentioned that there is no chatroom here, and directed him towards a place where things like this are acceptable

Thanks for reposting that...It may help the new guy to understand if he gets any animosity thrown his way for this...I appreciate it :)
