I would take out King Kong, thats more of an action movie. I'd replace it with Audition.

...Why these?

I understand Halloween and Donnie Darko, they take place on Halloween, the rest just seem like a random collection. I also understand the old classics because they just give off that vibe (to me at least). Why The Devil's Rejects, wouldn't House of 1,000 Corpses be included since that one is actually on Halloween.

touche. I just stick to the classic b/w horror, original slashers, It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown......... and Rocky Horror Picture Show of course. :)

The ORIGINAL King Kong is considered a classic monster flick.

crabapple 09-23-2007 09:09 AM

The ORIGINAL King Kong is.......awesome.

I was gonna say. I'm assuming he's referring to the original, and the original is a movie that should be on any spook list.

crabapple 09-23-2007 09:58 AM

It's still one of the best monster flicks you can watch. It's got a lot of soul, it looks great, it moves real fast and it's crazy. That scene when Kong busts loose in New York and goes aping around, it's still completely nuts after all these years. My God, the movie's almost 75 years old and it still works.

Understood, but its not really a horror movie just cause of a giant gorilla, at least not in my opinion.

crabapple 09-23-2007 12:51 PM

Oh, it's got a lot more than a giant gorilla. It's got a lot of monsters. And they are hungry! King Kong is considered a horror movie by many people.

psychooralien 09-24-2007 06:12 AM

king kong

I agree the original is the best. The 1976 version is ok. The 2005 version is nearly as good as the original. It's just not quite there.

ferretchucker 09-24-2007 07:24 AM

I'd say the original is just funny, the 76 version was the best and if you ignored the first 45 minutes, the 2005 would be slightly above the original. Why simpsons movie? Why vanilla sky? Why alien ressurection? Where's Halloween 2? H2 and H1 go hand in hand. They're one big movie.

neverending 09-24-2007 07:26 AM

The 76 version is just embarressing. It's a big fat turkey.

ferretchucker 09-24-2007 07:27 AM

I thought it was more enteraining that the newest one.

Roderick Usher 09-24-2007 07:34 AM

I had never even heard of it until just now. Seriously, its called "Kaw"?

Why not make a horror movie about bats and call it "Eek! Eek!"?

I Checked to see if maybe it was a Slither style, tongue in cheek horror comedy, but not according to the IMDB page....

ferretchucker 09-24-2007 07:47 AM

They're some films to watch at halloween. Slither and Shaun of the dead. Simon Pegg and his mate are gonna write another of the "Blood and Ice cream" trilogy. Wonder what it will be?

A couple of things:

Why Jaws 2 and not the first and best one.

King Kong is a horror movie and is still one of the best of all time - when you consider the year it was made (1933 I think, though not entirely sure) it was and still is a way ahead of its time. The remake (2005) was a nice tribute to it.

@ Ferret, I understand to a certain point where you are coming from, but the 1976 remake suffered from several things, ie man in a monkey suit, rubber snake, (which was one of the better actors) and money but most of all, not enough love - compare it with Peter Jacksons' version then you may understand.

*that was a polite way of saying you are talking out yer arse*

;)

Dante'sInferno 10-04-2007 12:08 PM
