The Hitcher
Has anyone ever seen this movie? this is a movie, like many others, i had been turned onto by my oldest brother waaaay back in the 80's
got for Christmas on dvd and to me it's a classic! i love this movie. i love movies you have to think about and this was one of those. it's definitely one of my favs. i consider it to be horror-esque b/c of the horrific things that take place in the movie....anyone else see this or have thoughts on it??? |
Rutger Hauer's BEST movie. C. Thomas Howell's BEST movie. Love this thing. Finger in the french fries was unforgettable.
The sequel sucks balls. Hated it. |
i usually refuse to see sequels to really classic movies....like the crow
i make an exception with some however...like halloween i refuse to see the second hitcher that movie needs no sequel! |

The sequel had the balls to kill off C. Thomas Howell (normally a good thing) halfway through the movie. What the hell!!!
First one might be my favorite road movie. I'm a big fan of Eric Red's writing!!!!! |
i loved the hitcher does any one else think joy ride riped it off big time
|
Yes, Joy Ride did rip it off a bit (as it did The Duel and a ton of other road movies) but that's what exploitaion movies do. And besides, I can't say anything bad about John Dahl. He's like the only guy in Hollywood who still wants to make indie-type films.
|
i actually really liked joy ride....i mean, let's be real....what movie that comes out these days that isn't a rip of something else...wrong turn was like a few other movies i can think of but i LOVED THAT MOVIE!!! it just depends on what they do with the movie...some turn out better than the ones that came before...you can have a great idea but it takes all sorts of elements to pull it off...writing, casting, etc. i liked steve zahn's character a lot and he and paul walker seemed to work well together. though paul's cute that's all he is a far as an actor IMO. he's just not very deep. i'm not usually a fan of the helen hunt look alike either (what's her name?) but in that one (joy ride) i thought it worked (all the characters, i mean).

I'm down with Eric Red too. Near Dark, The Hitcher, The Last Outlaw...what's not to love? |
near dark is one of those box covers i'd always see at the video store but never attempted to watch (the movie not the box cover-ha!). what's the premise behind this movie..you must think it's pretty good. what's it all about?

thank you!

The part when Howell is driving down the road and Hauer waves at him form the back seat of that station wagon still gives me the creeps. I think "Blade Runner" Is probaly Hauer's best movie though.

Yeah I kinda figured the way you said live action vampire movie you may be thinking of "D". "Bloodlust" is one of my favorite anime of all time right up there with "Ghost in The Shell" and "Ninja Scrolls". The first one is good but the art work and color in the second one are second to none. I heard a while ago that they were working on a "Ghost in The Shell" sequal. |

I loved the Hitcher, the fingers in the french fries are the most memorable scene. Does anyone remember the short film called the Benediction? I think that was what it was called, it was a compilation of 3 or 4 short films, it was implied that the devil was driving this pickup and killing people, I remember this being pretty good but I cant remember the video it was a part of. |
