The Sub Genres of Horror

I was recently trying to think of all the various niches and sub genres of horror. After much thought I was able to come up with the following outline of horror sub genres. What am I missing here?

Quote:

Animal Horror
Anthology Horror (Multiple horror stories told in 1 film)
Comedy Horror
Flesh Eaters
* Cannibals
* Zombies
Exploitation
* Sexploitation
* Shockumentaries
Erotic Horror
Gore/Extreme/Splatter ("splatter cinema" orig. coined by Romero regarding DOTD)
* Splatstick
* Torture Porn/Gorno
Gothic Horror
Psychological Horror
Sci-fi Horror
* Aliens
* Robots/Cyborgs
Religious
* Possession
* Satan/Demons
* Religious fanatics
Slasher
Supernatural
* Ghosts
* Werewolves
* Witches/Warlocks
* Vampires
* Other Creatures
Vomit Horror :eek:

I can't for the life of me see where Frankenstein would fit on that list. Other Creatures?

Interesting. I would put it in Gothic Horror. But Other Creatures could work too. In fact, many horror movies would fit in more than one category.

On my review website (see link in my sig), these are the sub-genre's I use. So far, I've been able to fit every horror film into one or another.

Zombie Horror
Slasher Horror
Vampire Horror
Werewolf Horror
Creature Horror
Hillbilly Horror
Occult Horror
Vehicular Horror
Psychological Horror
Horror Comedies
Horror Classics

I've been able to place the last 225 horror films I watched in to one (or more) of those sub-genres.
B Quality Horror

Made me think of:

Congo
Outbreak
Planet Of The Apes

Those aren't really horror though...

But, they DO have horror-ish overtones

You mean "ape" horror you silly monkey. There wasnt a single monkey in all the movies you listed. Plenty of Apes though. :p

I'm partial to good old fashioned "survival horror", which encompasses many of the other subgenres. movies like Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Alien, Aliens, Dog Soldiers, even predator are about simply living to the end. :)
