Jon Lovitz Beats Up Andy Dick.
IT was fight night at an L.A. comedy club last week when Jon Lovitz roughed up Andy Dick over the murder of their "Saturday Night Live" colleague, Phil Hartman.
Laugh Factory owner Jamie Masada, who witnessed the assault, said, "Jon picked Andy up by the head and smashed him into the bar four or five times, and blood started pouring out of his nose." Lovitz told Page Six, "All the comedians are glad I did it because this guy is a [bleep]hole." Lovitz and Dick have been at loggerheads since a 1997 Christmas party at Hartman's house, five months before his troubled wife Brynn flipped out, fatally shooting Hartman, then killing herself. "Andy was doing cocaine, and he gave Brynn some after she had been sober for 10 years. Phil was furious about it - and then five months later he's dead," said Lovitz, adding that when he filled in on Hartman's "Newsradio" sitcom, "I told Andy, 'I wouldn't be here now if you hadn't given Brynn that cocaine.' " Last year, Lovitz related, a drunken Dick strolled up to his table at Ago in West Hollywood, rudely downed his guests' peach liqueur drinks, and "looked at me and said, 'I put the "Phil Hartman hex" on you - you're the next one to die.' I said, 'What did you say?' and he repeated it. I wanted to punch his face in, but I don't hit women." When the two ran into each other at the Laugh Factory last Wednesday, "I wanted him to say he was sorry for the 'Phil Hartman hex,' " Lovitz told us. "First he says, 'I don't remember saying that.' Then he leans in and says, 'You know why I said it? Because you said I killed Phil Hartman.' Which I never said. Then he asked me to be in his new movie. "I grabbed him by the shirt and leaned him over and said, 'I don't want to be in your movie! I don't want to be in your life!' I pushed him against the rail. Then I pushed him again really hard. A security guard broke it up. I'm not proud of it . . . but he's a disgusting human being." Dick's rep said he had no comment. Dick's weirdness has been well documented. Last year, he licked the faces of Farrah Fawcett, Carrie Fisher and Patton Oswalt, then groped and bit the hand of Post reporter Mandy Stadtmiller at a comedy-festival taping. |

John Lovitz is my new hero. I didnt know that much background about Mrs dick, but he basically got Phil Hartman killed. I'm glad his carer has been shit since.

Jon Lovitz & Andy Dick might be the 2 most annoying comedians ever, but from the article above, Lovitz at least sounds like a decent human being. Andy Dick just sounds like a total asshole.

You guys are right. Lovitz has done some good shows (Critic, Simpsons) and actually Andy Dick has too (NewsRadio. I credit him with this show & not Lovitz because it stopped being funny once Hartman died & Lovitz came on.)

Yes, she was. As far as I know, he wasn't holding a gun to her head when he offered, or gave her the drugs, or any time after she decided to use drugs. In the end, it was HER weaknesses, and her choices that led to the tragedy. He's obnoxius, and an ass, and he wasn't right.....hell, he probably deserves a good ass kicking, don't get me wrong. But this world is full of temptation (particularly in the world they live in), and if it was that easy to get her to fall off the wagon, it was going to happen. Obviously she wasn't very happy with her life and needed help, because ten years is a long time to get some perspective and realize your life and the others around you are more important than a high. And she wasn't at that point by then, well she wasn't doing as well as she or anyone else may have thought. This is a person that had a lot more problems than someone giving her some cocaine at a party. |

I have no love for Andy Dick , don't get me wrong.
But, There is always more than one version when something tragic happens. And I hope Brynn rots in Hell for killing such a talented, great guy... let alone the damage she did to her 2 beautiful children. |
On a side note - I live in Encino, just a few blocks from where Phil was shot.
A new school just went up here and my kid goes there. They handed out an assignment to the parents of the student body to name the school and one of the options was to name it after a famous deceased person from the area. I sent in the suggestion of "Phil Hartman Elementary" They chose "Hesby Oaks" lame |
Phil Hartman may have been funny, but he was no Andy Dick.

About the topic, dont get me wrong here guys...and there's no doubt that Hartman was good, but who knows what the real deal behind Brynn getting cocaine was. Yes I read the article, but most of the times articles are based on hearsays too. The fact of the matter is that she killed Phil...why she did it, and should Andy be blamed for it or not...is debatable. |
