*HOWLS* Werewolf film, help request.

I am planning a film night and I'm in a Wolfy mood so I would like some werewolf film suggestions.

Dog Soldiers is a definite.

My friend suggested,
The Company of Wolves and The beast must die.

Opinions of these films welcome but please no spoilers.
Any suggestions gratefully received.

Here's some good ones...

Silver Bullet(1985)
The Howling(1980)
An American Werewolf in London(1981)
Ginger Snaps(2000)
Wolfen(1981)

Yeah, and, really! Get yourself some Paul Naschy movies. I recommend Werewolf vs. Vampire Woman or its European cut, which is called Werewolf Shadow. Either that or Frankenstein's Bloody Terror, which is not really a Frankenstein film at all, it is a werewolf/vampire movie. Paul Naschy is essential; all those other movies are good too but you would be disservicing yourself if the Spanish Lon Chaney Jr. were not represented.

And while we're at it, where is the Lon Chaney Jr.? Get The Wolf Man, the 1941 original. Probably the best werewolf movie ever made.

Cool, some great suggestions.

Although we kinda agreed we wanted some films we haven't seen so ruled out American Werewolf but Dog Soldiers we wanted to keep lol.

I was unsure of Ginger Snaps but now that it has been mentioned here I might give it a go.

We had a Underworld film night recently so gonna rule those out.

I have been wanting to see Silver Bullet so maybe try find it.

I have to question Silence of the Lambs, Why?
Also saving it for Hannibal night.

Again great suggestions. Will have to locate the films now.

Wanted to have the film night this Friday be it a full moon and that, but I'm working :(

Thanks

Definitely pick up Ginger Snaps, I was very impressed by the writing in that film. I would even recommend the sequels, though they aren't as good. But I still liked two a lot, and three is okay, but weak in places. :)

In addition to the ones mentioned above, I d recommend Monster Squad. Its one of the best monster comedy movies I have ever seen. Add The Monster Club to it too...totally cheesy fare of the 1980s with Vincent Price in it.

Also, Hammer's The Curse of the Werewolf. Jack Nicholson's Wolf is another which you can add, although I didnt like it that much.

More great suggestions thanks all.
An American Werewolf in London feels like a must to me but I think I am being over thrown on the bases that my friend has watched it too many times (im not sure how that is possible). However I might pull rank considering I am the Hostess on this occassion. I could ask the other guests but they just dont care as much and me and my friend do lol.

I do like Monster Squad but I think I want a focus on Werewolves alone.

So many ideas I think I am just going to have to take a weekend off work and watch them all lol.

Might arrange it for the 30th of June, next full moon and close to my birthday lol.

Definitely Ginger Snaps. All three are pretty good, but the first one for sure. Silver Bullet never gets old, either.

And if you want to see a very sexy French actress run around naked for pretty much the whole film, get Wilderness. A decent story with a much different take on lycanthropy. And Amanda Ooms is delicious.

the howlings and frankenstein meets the wolfman. for comedy, haunted honeymoon. what d'you call the recent movie that pits vampires v werewolves?

Shadow 05-31-2007 05:23 AM

Thanks again for the suggestions you are all wonderful.

Think Ginger Snaps is back on the line up.

Cover for Wilderness looks good but Im not too keen on the naked actress aspect of the film. However if the film itself is good then im sure its worth a watch.

So many films, so little time.
Will probably chose the films that have been most suggested or whichever films I find first lol.
