I'm not joking either! You go relax, music helps, drink a nice glass of warm milk or hot chocolate. Warm soup even...warm stuff relaxes you. You get some sleep now yes
|
Alright,i'll go try that......
again. |
Yes. You guys all...relax...you are getting sleepy.
One thing that works for me, I read a book, like a ghost story or something, that usually puts me right out. Stories work well because I concentrate on the story, and if I am tired, that makes me more tired and foop! Asleep. Also watching cartoons helps too, late at night. Try it, it works for me. Cartoons. If it works for you, send me five dollars for the advice. I just kidding. |
Tried it again.Didn't work.
|
Just listen to my station... it will put you right out...lol...

I find when I cant get to sleep that the worse thing I can do is fight it! I accept that the mind is running on overkill/drive, get out of bed and do something I would normally do in the day like watch tv. Make a nice, warm milky drink and chill out.
Or I wrap myself in something warm and do some star-gazing for a while - anything that stops me from fighting the frustration of not being able to sleep. I find that within an hour I am ready to shut my eyes. And even then, if I still cant sleep, I will cosy up in bed with a good book and again, just chill. Sometimes, just laying in bed, taking in long, slow deep breaths and even longer exhales tends to help me drift off. Fighting insomnia doesnt work. |

Man I hate not going to sleep. Takes me forever everynight to go to sleep. Once in a blue moon, I can not sleep for anything, but I just lay there with my eyes closed for the most part, & just get some rest. Try that. It's not sleep, but it's something. And then the next day I don't feel like a zombie.
|
The only ways I can get to sleep is get drunk or watch movies, both in excess untill, i'm gone!
|
oi!!focus on the thread starter dammit!!!

taking pills is not my thing..laying awake in another part of the country however..driving myself nuts with my thoughts and keeping the rest of the household up is another. Right now em away from auckland and em in our capital (wellington).. where I am staying is right in the heart of thier nightclubbing district.. (courtney place)..in a friends apartment..above the shops.. Its quite hilarious staring from the balcony..at all finely dressed.. nice looking drunks falling all over the place. You know..half the girls that have walked past don't look any older than 15. I think i will get me a bucket of water n just wait for the next bitch that yells 'WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO' as she passes and dump it all over her sorry ass. |

Ambiens are great but require doctors prescription. |
The longest I've been awake was three days. I've known people that have been awake for 15 days before. I think you have to be awake for 4-6 weeks before it kills you, though your body usually makes you pass out before then.
If you have chronic insomnia, I would seriously go to a doctor and get some sleeping pills or go to a sleep clinic. There's usually a reason why you can't sleep, but untill you figure it out and correct it, takes some pills for a couple of nights just to sleep for awhile. If you don't want to take pills, take Valerian root. I don't recommend eating it raw though, I would take it capsule form because it tastes disgusting. But Valerian will definitely relax you naturally and that's usually enough for your body to sleep for awhile. |

Anyway: Man Breaks Sleep Deprivation Record A man has claimed a new record by succeeding in his bid to stay awake for 11 days as part of his research into human sleep. Tony Wright, 42, began his attempt on the 264-hour record at 6am on May 14 at the Studio Bar in Penzance, west Cornwall. A qualified horticulturist, he relied on a raw food diet, including fruit, salad, seeds and nuts, to help keep him awake. After setting the record just after 6am on Friday, he said: "I feel pretty good but a bit shaky. It has not really sunk in yet that I have beaten the record. "I do not feel tired yet, but there is a bit of adrenaline pumping around at the moment." He said his diet and intake of herb tea "seemed to make a big difference to my ability to stay awake and remain functional". Mr Wright had the help of friends, chatting and playing pool, to keep him awake. He has conducted 15 years of research into human sleep, and claimed each side of the human brain requires a different amount of sleep. With appropriate preparation, it is possible to stay awake and remain functional for long periods, he said. During his record bid he said he had one "near sleep experience" and found the most difficult thing to do was writing his website diary while sleep-deprived. Student Randy Gardner set the Guinness World Record in 1964 as part of a science project in San Diego, US. http://www.channel4.com/news/article...+record/531107 http://www.gulf-times.com/site/topic...8&parent_id=20 http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/a...ord/article.do http://www.independent.ie/world-news...rd-684994.html http://news.scotsman.com/health.cfm?id=819272007 |
