Depressing Best Buy tragedies.
3 years ago, best buy had 4 cabinets for the horror section. 2 years ago it had 3. now it has 2.
this happen to anyone else? |
Unfortunately I don't have a Best Buy close to me, but that sucks...
|
Let's see, before I moved about 5 months ago or so, there was a Best Buy in the area I lived and they had a pretty decent horror section, last I saw it seemed to be expanding. When the place first went up, there was hardly anything there at all.

Best Buy is still better than Circuit City! |
your lucky, the one near me has one isle.
i still spend my nickle there, the selection is better then the rest. and as for another best buy tragedy,.....i cant work up the nerve to ask out one of the many hot cashiers they have working there! everytime i buy a handfull of discs, i see a girl i wouldnt mind buying a coke. im a sucker for bright blue shirts and pretty faces. |
I have a whole section full.Like about 12 rows....
fuck yeah! |
I don't even know anymore because they seem to mix the shelves up and re-arrange them every so often. You wonder where the heck everything went and then find they put some here and put some there!
Their horror selections are sometimes good...most of the time I'm not interested in 95 percent of what's on the shelves, and I comb the shelves for those few titles that are worth it...the weird stuff...Roger Corman double-movie discs, Paul Naschy, the occasional Godzilla, or some Reptilicus-type action. When I find something good, the prices are usually decent. |
Mine has about two rows of horror. They always have the new releases, but sometimes I'll find the most random ass classic. They have good prices mosr of the time, so if I'm already there, I'll usually buy one

mothman,
I feel your pain, I live about 15 minutes outside of boston and the one i go to has about 2 sections for horror movies:mad: |
Well i guess i should feel lucky about the area i live in. One of the best buys in the area, the one i go to, has half an isle of horror. I used to like circuit city better but over the past few months they have gone from a great place to buy to barely above wal mart standards. I prefer FYI over either of them simply because they have pretty much whatever you are looking for but you definitely pay the price (40 damn dollars for H).
|
Stop complaining - I don't have a Best Buy around here, and the alternative (Future Shop) doesnt have have a horror section. They're just randomly mixed in with the other genres (mostly in action).

I just bought "H" new for $4.25 at Hastings! |
The one closest to me use to have a huge section as well, and when they remolded and expanded the video game section the horror section got cut in half:(

I'm plotting my revenge. The Circuit City still has a huge selection, Target's is ok, Meijer's is almost non-existent, Borders has some... actually there are a lot more places close to buy movies and horror movies so I shouldn't complain. |
It's funny, but increasingly, whatever movie it is, I generally will find it cheap on Ebay and wait a week or two for it to get here. If I can be patient, it costs a lot less than any of those stores.
Then again, there was that mad night when I had to see the new "Day of the Dead" 2-disc set, and ran out to the store and paid whatever they wanted for it--I think I paid 30 bucks or more for that. It was pretty cool though. |

There are only 2 shops near where I live that actually have a horror section... and they have less horror on their shelves than I have on mine
So I just buy online. |
I have had a few problems with orders on Ebay, but all told, not many. I avoid the sellers with lots of negative feedback, and overall, my experiences have been good. It's definitely better to keep your eyes open when buying there...each seller is an individual person.
|
maybe the problem is that the film makers, holly wood what ever you want to call them make such piles of shit and put it on DVD format that people don't buy the DVDs and they just sit on the shelves taking up space
