the 'new' hitcher

It was basically the same as the 86' one cept he has a girl with him.. I liked the original better.. and I guess because I saw the old one I wasn't as shocked when some things happened because they kept it almost the same, they pick him up, kick him out, he goes after them, kills a bunch of people, etc.. they even ended up killing him in the same way as the girl in the orignal with the trucks. My boyfriend liked it but he also never saw the orignal. I guess I just really liked C. Thomas Howell as Jim Halsey and Rutger Hauer as John Ryder.

I saw the first 2 minutes of it, then i started doing something else.

It was just so..... 2000ish.

Know what i'm saying? Do ya?

Angra 05-05-2007 06:32 AM

I really feel that the battle between C. Thomas Howell and Rutger Hauer made the original a classic. And i'm not just talking about the battle for survival but also the battle in good acting. Absolutely awesome.

In my eyes, both actors best achievement in their carriers.

I agree with you 100%
The original is one of my favorite movies.

they should have never made this remake, it just didn't work for me.
& yea i know what you mean by 2000ish. :D

dabruce16 05-05-2007 10:01 AM

it reminded me a lot of the fog remake. it made me cringe at the beginning of both films because there is some mainstream pop/punk song playing in both movies. to start a horror film like that is sad.

monalisa 05-06-2007 03:47 AM

Rutger Hauer is one of my favorite actors, so I really never had much of a desire to see the remake. And now that I've read the posts here, I really won't bother. :)

massacre man 05-06-2007 04:33 AM

Its a remake, not a sequel, if you expected something totally new I have to ask why.

AmericanManiac 05-06-2007 07:07 AM

Great, I just picked up the HDDVD of this, and now i'm hearing all these bad reviews

rottenapplesss 05-06-2007 07:43 AM

well watching the beginning i thought it was going to be alittle different.. but don't matter i will always love the original. just a bad remake in my eyes.

Angra 05-06-2007 08:36 AM

Why remake it in the first place???

It's not like the original is outdated.

But somewhere in hollywood is a person who wants to see all the good ol classic horror movies with young good-looking actors/actresses in the lead roles. Coz that's important.

Definitely the best thing C. Thomas Howell or Hauer has ever done, which is saying a lot for Hauer anyway. I tell you, he was terrifying in the original film. Pretty much the cosummate psychopath in my opinion.
I haven't seen the remake yet, and like The Fog remake, I don't really have a desire to. But I will probably see it eventually, when it hits cable or something.

Wise decision, Jenna.

Dante'sInferno 05-06-2007 10:37 AM

It sucked,typical 2000 dumb-ass characters!

Damn they're dumb.

Demonique 05-07-2007 05:29 AM

I loved the original, Rutger Hauer made that movie sing. I will avoid the remake like the plague.

novakru 05-07-2007 06:13 AM

I'll see it, just so I can bitch about how awful it is:D
