Wow... lots of dairy...
Do you actually get better???
You're supposed to stay away from dairy while you're sick. It makes you worse.

I don't eat when I'm sick.
If I have to, I eat bland foods, soup/broth, bread, and lots of water.
Water, regardless of eating or not.
Don't want to make myself puke or any worse than I am.

horrorobsessed 04-23-2007 02:27 PM

chicken noodle soup and sprite, pretty standard

also, i get these cravings too.

Pickles and Reese's

i actually had one of the dads who run the concession stand at a pep band game ask me if i was pregnant once, cause i always got that during almost every pep band game. it's not really that much of a "sick" food i guess.

Soft-boiled eggs, chicken noodle soup, grilled cheese, saltine crackers, and lots of peppermint tea.

VampiricClown 04-23-2007 02:31 PM

Despite what you hear, Chicken Noodle is NOT good for a sore throat. I have tried that soooo many times and because of the salt, it makes my throat worse. I've told about 6 of my friends that and they didn't believe me. They ate it and the next thing I heard out of their mouth was about how bad the salt burns.

Well, been doing it for 15 years and never had a problem.

Salt is saltier when you're sick.
I reiterate: Bland foods.

Don't ask me. That always burned my throat as well. And don't get me wrong, I love chicken noodle soup and salt both. But like Novadawn just said, salt is saltier when you're sick, therefor making all of the open, raw flesh on the back of your throat from where you've been coughing or have any kind of drainage, only makes it worse.

Think about it like this, you don't put salt in an open wound on your arm, so why would you drink salt water when you have a wounded throat?

I usually dont eat anything when I am sick.I try to drink fluids though,I just do not have the energy to chew...

AmericanManiac 04-23-2007 04:19 PM

I like to eat homemade chicken noodle soup, and if i'm sick from a hangover I have to have the most greasiest food to make me feel better,or a rare steak with a lot of blood.

Whenever I tell people that greasy food helps a hangover, they look at me like im crazy.

I go to steak and shake, order burger and fries and a milkshake. all that grease and milk lays waste to my hangover and I feel like a new man.

I feel you brother, everytime i'm out with friends after a night of partying I say I need something that has a lot of grease, and I get the same looks. It honestly is the best cure, because soon as you get that down, your right you are a new man.

alkytrio666 04-23-2007 04:57 PM

They do say that soda pop is a great thing to drink when you have a stomach ache, including a flu.

Did you know Coke was originally a syrup intended to hellp a rotten stomach? Everybody loved it so much that they added some carbonation, and a few other tricks, and vwala! Coca-Cola!

newb 04-23-2007 05:04 PM

Plenty of fluids.

Milkshakes are the number one cure for just about everything in my book! Stomach ache, head ache, nausea, drink a chilly milkshake and you feel great!

crabapple 04-23-2007 06:29 PM

Well, since everyone is advocating greasy food, well...I read somewhere that junk food puts you in a good mood and that helps you get better quicker...mind over matter, that sort of thing. You can't go too far wrong with some McDonalds food and a funny movie or book. Tasty and funny.

As to the Sprite comment...sure! I used to drink 7-Up when I had a bad cold or whatever. 7-Up...make you feel GOOD! You try.

I most totally have to agree with the hangover statement there is nothing better than a greasy ass double cheese burger the morning of a hangover

1beastieibe 04-24-2007 08:06 AM

The only thing I can stomach when I'm sick is fruit and crackers, usually grapes or watermelon and some saltines.

this made me sick once maniac i couldent look at a cheese burger for weeks

Nikkif8 04-24-2007 08:39 AM

I agree with the greasy food for a hang over too. I am more of a greasy breakfast type tho. Or we have this deli here that makes the sandwiched called Rise and Shiners -it's egg, cheese, meat of your choice (bacon, sausage or ham) and a hash brown on a huge bulky sub roll. They are soooooooo good for a night after drinking.

As for being actually sick I go for soup- chicken noodle or tomato w/a grilled cheese is good. And ginger ale or tea or juice.

Posher778 04-24-2007 09:51 AM

Right now, a mug of chicken noodle soup with lots of saltine crackers. Topped off with some sweet tea, which i gargle for emphasis hahaa, and hopefully later, my dad will bring me a milkshake.

Phalanx 04-24-2007 10:27 AM

When I'm sick...well, I get sick about twice a year if that, but...

Lightly steamed vegetables, with just a little butter, and pepper.
Fresh, cooling foods...salads are nice.
Fish is good when I can get it, always makes me feel better.
Ginger, lots of ginger.

I also make a drink....kinda passed down in my family...of course I've made my own alterations to it. It'll sound disgusting to all of you, but essentially it's not THAT much about the flavour, just that it makes you feel better, and has semi-medicinal properties. It tastes rather strong, but not bad...
Ok...Hot water, LOTS of freshly squeezed lemon juice, garlic, birdseye chillis, ginger, cloves, honey, peppercorns, and I'll throw in a green tea bag.

bleeding_angelgirl 04-24-2007 10:28 AM

i hope you feel better posh

_____V_____ 04-24-2007 10:33 AM

Tomato soup...

Chicken soup...

Corn soup...

and more soup. For an upset tummy.

Thanks! I'm ok now, it's really a morning thing. I really just have a sore throat and a stuffy nose now, but I think overwork and no sleep just caught up with me. I'll be ok tomorrow.
