Yeah, but you rate Scream above Halloween. There goes your credibility.

Haha.

alkytrio666 03-16-2007 09:07 PM

I must say, I love Suspiria. I really do.

It's beautiful and haunting, and relentlessly terrifying.
Of course, I love Argento in general.

I agree with you, I really enjoyed the movie. The soundtrack was also a huge part of it.

Prey 03-16-2007 09:23 PM

nice movie. Argento is brilliant.

swiss tony 03-17-2007 07:25 AM

i find argento a bit hit and miss. but suspiria is a masterpiece. unfortunately for me it was the first argento i saw and have subsequently compared all his work to suspiria. incidentally, i just bought an original signed pressbook from the premiere of suspiria from ebay

My favorite horror soundtrack; either that, or the similar Profondo Rosso soundtrack. Goblin is incredible.

I think I've been pretty constructive with you... not to mention I've been joking up until now. Sure, I think putting Scream above Halloween is bullshit, but I was busting your balls when I said you had no credibilty. Some folks are just thin-skinned, I guess.

But, thanks.

I liked Halloween better personally but they both helped rejuvinate horror in the mainstream in a times where, I feel, it needed resuscitation.

And if you were to poll the horror community, Halloween would take it by a long shot.

Looks like a fairly major misinterpretation here. I did not see anyone call you stupid. I did see someone question your credibility on the basis of your preferences. See the difference?

Imagine you have a friend who insists that Dude, Where's My Car? is the greatest American film ever. Wouldn't that cause you to think twice about trusting this person's future recommendations? This is what the original poster seemed to mean in reference to your credibility.

When you credibility was questioned, you immediately turned to personal insults (i.e., bitch). Have you read the post you referenced about not launching personal attacks?

Back on topic, Suspiria is one of my personal favorites. Has a soundtrack that fits the movie beautifully and it plays with your mind. Without the soundtrack, I don't think the movie would have been as good.

DEATHH DREAMS author 03-19-2007 08:34 AM

That last 20 minutes is as good as it gets in horror. Also did anyone notice the shadow that predicts the death of the blind guy? It is up on the wall... Very cool...

You're right. If I were to go on a huge forum like Bloody-Disgusting, Halloween would still win. Why? Because it's the better, more liked movie. You'd have to be an idiot to think any different.

Did I negate this? That argument is complete bullshit. Like any film you want to like, but if you like Scream more than Halloween, just know that you are in the minority.

What does money have to do with anything? Jesus, are you up to par here? Has anyone even mentioned money? Now that you mention it though, when including inflation, Halloween made more than Scream.

swiss tony 03-20-2007 12:10 AM

fair point mcilroga. scream made double what the omen made. in terms of quality product the omen is light years ahead. scream is just a fun movie. also, i think inflation would show a more than times three increase in revenue. so omen for example would gross $162m, which would bring up to third.which means the exorcist would be by far the highest grossing.

AsylumSeeker 03-23-2007 06:42 PM

Ahhhh...Argento + Goblins = nirvana (not the crappy band)

This film is so incredibly beautiful to watch. I don't even mind the fluorescent tomato paste blood because it's obvious that the color is part of the intention.

chaibill 04-15-2007 08:11 AM

i heard there was an extended version that you can't get in the usa ids this true or has it come avalible i have not scene suspiria yet but i saw the dvd for sale a few years ago but didn't want to buy an incompleat version and it is on my netflix queue

Baron_Blood 04-15-2007 08:48 AM

Suspiria is great, but Inferno is better. Here is my top 5 Argento's:

Inferno
Tenebre
Phenomena
Deep Red
Suspiria

Inferno
Phenomena

I was going off of his list...if I were free, I'd replace Phenomena with Bird With the Crystal Plumage and Inferno with Opera...but the first three films remain the same.

Baron_Blood 04-15-2007 10:07 AM
