Strange things you think about.

I was just eating a steak. And I started to think about the cow that it came from. And then I started to think about the person that slayed the cow, I was wondering what is that person doing at this very moment. Maybe he is sleeping, taking a shower, or playing xbox, or maybe it was a woman. Could she be doing her hair, getting ready to go out and party at a club or something. Or perhaps she is breast feeding her newborn child.

What are some of the strange things that go through your head?

I think it's fascinating that everyone on the planet (given time zone differences of course) are looking up at the same moon as I am. It makes the world feel so much smaller. I always think about space, and how we'll never get very far, and what could be in the emptyness so far away. Same with the ocean, the deepest places that we have yet to get to, fascinating.

If I thought of that stuff while eating any meat, I'd gag & be done eating it, til later.
As far as wierd thoughts. I have a lot, but I can't think of any I've had at the moment.

Several years ago an ex-coworker had a small farm and would have a pig roast every year. It was always fun. One year, I was happily munching on my roast pork when that stupid MF told me the name of the pig. I knew it was a pig from his farm, but once he told me his name, I couldn't eat another bite. I think his name was Tommy. Then all I could think of is how just a day or two ago Tommy was still snorting around the barnyard, and then I pictured him as a cute little pink piglet and I almost threw up. All these thoughts flew through my mind almost instantly. Although, now I still eat meat, go figure.

Oh, here's another one. I think everyone has had this thought. What if I'm in a coma or something and all of this is just a dream? How long ago did I go unconscious? Will I wake up?

I spend large chunks of my day wrestling with the concept of persona and the definition of self. Am I a Res Cogitans (a thinking thing) or a Res Corporealis (a bodily thing)?

When I die am I still me? Is the body me? If I am not defined by my body, then if I were to have my consciousness planted into another body, would it be me?

If I become a reanimated corpse, am I still me?

Nothing quite like that. lol

Interesting thread. Alot of good food for thought and there's only been a handful of posts so far....

This isn't weird, but it's something I was pondering with my boss yesterday....

Alot of homosexual people say that they did not choose to be gay and they are just born that way. (Others will tell you they chose it because something affected them at some point in their life, but those aren't the ones I was discussing...)

So if people are born gay, that would mean it's a genetic thing right? But, if being gay is genetic, then why hasn't evolution/natural selection eradicated it? Because obviously, for the most part they aren't procreating....

bwind22 03-09-2007 08:37 AM

I bet it'd be chewy. Like alligator meat...

bwind22 03-09-2007 08:44 AM

I worked at a high end caterer for 4 years, so I got to sample quite a bit of weird foods. (Just about every kind of wild game you could think of including alligator, raccoon, rabbit, bear. I passed on the Rocky Mountain Oysters though because that's justa term to gloss over the fact that they are bull and/or sheep testicles.) No human flesh though...

bwind22 03-09-2007 08:55 AM

Here's a new one...

Why do we have to swear on a Bible in court when the Court's themselves have ruled that the 10 Commandments are not allowed to be posted in the courthouse?

That's just fuckin' stupid.

And what if you are Muslim or Atheist? You still have to swear on the Bible, but obviously you wouldn't take it as significantly as a devout Christian would anyways so what's the point?

bwind22 03-09-2007 09:01 AM

Waaaaay too late for that though. Take a look at all of our currency, or say the pledge of allegiance, etc... The President is sworn in with his hand on a Bible.

Whatever happened to seperation of church & state? It was a good idea... that they seemed to ignore as soon as they thought it up.

missmacabre 03-09-2007 09:01 AM

My dad refused to swear on t he bible so they just took his word for it. I agree that it's stupid though. I believe more in buddhist principles but was raise in a very, very Christian family so I wouldn't swear on the bible.

Because the human specias is in no threat of dying out. At least not from lack of procreation. Ther are too many people on the planet as is and we're pushing the population capacity of this sphere.

In that respect I can see more genetic homosexuality in the future of the species specifically as an evolutionary method of population capping.

Nope, stringy...And it tastes like pork, but saltier

Tribal cannibals call it 'long pig', because of the long muscles (which make the meat 'stringy') and the fact that it tastes like pork

That actually makes sense because human anatomy (organs, circulatory system, basic endocrine structure, etcetera) most closely resembles that of the pig...NOT the monkey/ape which many might think

bwind22 03-09-2007 01:51 PM

Speaking of 'strange things that make me think'.....

You say that as if you are making a simple statement of fact and not just speculating....

That makes me think.....

I think that, since humans are among the very few types of animals that have sex for pleasure, there would be a natural inclination to prefer one or the other for "pleasure". Just a theory.

We're at the top of the food chain, so we must taste pretty fucking good...:p

Posher778 03-09-2007 02:11 PM

but can you picture eating someone who hasn't taken care of themselves. Lived off fast food for 30 years, chain smoking alcoholic. That doesn't sound too appetizing to me.

No. Who cares? It's not like I BELIEVE it (the muslim bible), but I would do it if it was the law just to get it over with. It's not like i'm going to catch fire if I touch it, and God knows whether I mean it or not, which i wouldn't...

That's exactly the point I was getting at. What's the point in making someone swear on something they don't believe in in the first place?

bloodygurl02 03-10-2007 08:33 AM

has anyone noticed that whena celeb dies say anna nicole for instance they always show on news shows like entertainment tonite "lost footage". ok so how come if its lost it magiacllay appears after they die when u said it was lost???

stubbornforgey 03-11-2007 02:35 AM

Have you all noticed that the moon isn't really a perfect circular shape..
or the clouds don't really float as free as usual.
