let's just talk about the prequels here.

The Exorcist: The Beginning
Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning
TCM: The beginning
Hannibal Rising...... how many prequels have been made so far?? & which one do you think is the best or wrost!?!

Do you even prefer this idea of making a prequel of great horror movies??

what are the movies do you think that they can make a prequel in coming years??

Didn't I see there was someone trying to sell copies of an Evil Dead prequel on here? I think they even got the title wrong - they were selling it as 'Whisper in the woods' when it was actually called 'Within the woods'

I don't know anything about it - anybody else know anything?

I generally dislike prequels but it has nothing to do with the quality of the film I just like seeing events in the order they happened lol. I do watch them though and am looking forward to seeing Hannibal Rising.

Dominion: Prequel to The Exorcist (2005)

By no means great, but a helluva lot better than Exorcist: The Beginning.

I actually enjoy prequels, sometime they are the only way a story can go because they've come to a finite conclusion and they can only start at the beginning again.

Hellraiser: Bloodline is a good example of a prequel/sequel where they put an end to the Lament Configuration and also tell how it was created.

Exactly! A good analogy to a prequels in movie series would be reading a thick book starting in the middle, read a couple hundred pages, and then go start at the beginning...then skip to the end. It makes no sense.

I'm sure Hollywood doesn't "plan" out these prequels way in advance. I think it is usually just a good way to make a quick buck (Oh, they really liked those other 5 films in the series, let's make another one no matter how retarded!).

Its not horror, but Godfather II is a damn good movie, and its largely a prequel.

I can see SAW IV doing this as a cheap stunt.

I don't mind the general idea of a prequel, but they usually come along after a franchise has run out of gas and the execution tends to be sloppy at best.

Some prequels are such a bad idea. Take Hannibal Rising for example; Hannibal Lector is such a brilliant character, so mysterious, charming, and, well, surprising. So why dissect his past? It completely destroys any imaginative and mysterious expression the other films had.


That's the problem with society today; everything has to be explained to them. There isn't any creativity left.

True, there really needs to be more original movies. Although, if they remade
the old movie, "White Zombie" with a better screenplay, that would be cool.

But see, I don't think it would be cool. Part of what makes these movies great is the low-budget, sometimes very cheesy quality of them that have become timeless. It's like that Dawn of the Dead remake, the one without the Romero cheese humor. I just don't get it.

I think the cheesy movies that should stay cheesy. There are some movies though that have potential to be good, but not without new specail effects and just a little bit more dialoge. I mean, it was a good movie, but it could be great.

what about if there comes a prequel on Dog Soilders/ Hostel (though the sequels are coming)/ High Tension or Jeepers Creepers??:D

As far as prequels go I'm anticipating Bubba Nosferatu. Some prequels were meant to be made.
