Something kinda interesting

I was at hollywood video tonight, and I was looking for horror stuff, when I noticed that V for Vendetta was in the horror section. Being the *nice* guy that I am, I started to move it back to action, but when I put it back, a staff member who was working there asked me "what, you don't want to rent it? it's amazing!"
And I told him how it was in the horror section. He responded by telling me that there's a copy in horror and a copy in action on purpose now, because V for Vendetta is equally a horror movie as it is an action film. I agree with him actually, just wondered how everyone else feels about that.

I own it...Haven't watched it, but did think it was horror related...

I think it was bloodrayne who said she got halfway through before she realized it wasn't horror, it very much is though.

VampiricClown 02-18-2007 04:27 PM

That may be the movie I watch before bed tonight so I can accuratly say.

Very good choice. Amazing movie, riveting even, amazing ending. It's almost flawless. The throwing knives are so friggin sweet too.

Gus 02-18-2007 05:03 PM

seems like an action flick.

Lol, that reminds me of the time my friend and I were in Barnes and noble and he thought it would be a good idea to move all the Bibles to the fiction section. They didn't thinks so and we had to leave.

Action/Drama, borderline thriller.
Not horror.

Well, I disagree. Its got horror themes in it, watch it again.

Unaboner3000 02-18-2007 06:32 PM

Hmm. Love the movie! But not so sure anything in the movie can be classified as "horror." What in this movie was even remotely scary?

Not necessarily scary, just the same themes. Kind of hard to explain, just watch it and think horror.

Don't need to, I remember it well...my opinion just isn't the same as yours.

Despare 02-18-2007 07:11 PM

I also didn't feel that it was really part of the horror genre. Just my opinion.

Posher778 02-18-2007 07:34 PM

Well, to each his own. I can see where you guys that disagree are coming from though, no worries.

Bingo. I'd call it drama more than anything. NOT horror.

ferretchucker 02-19-2007 10:44 AM

I'd say it's a mixture. Mainly action but still partly horror. I love the Guido Fawkes mask.

Angra 02-19-2007 12:20 PM

I see it as a different superhero movie. Not a horror movie.

Posher778 02-19-2007 01:08 PM

Agreed with ferret, the mask is cool. It contributes to the horror feel of it. Of course I know it ISN'T and wasn't supposed to be a horror movie, just pointing out what I think.

horror

noun
1 intense fear, loathing or disgust.
2
intense dislike or hostility.
3 someone or something causing horror.
4
colloq a bad, distasteful or ridiculous person or thing.
5
as adj said of literature, films, etc: based on horrifying, frightening or bloodcurdling themes

ETYMOLOGY: 14c: Latin, meaning 'a shudder with fear'.

Posher778 02-19-2007 03:22 PM

3 someone or something causing horror.

that fits in a way.
It doesn't really matter, I said what I thought on the subject, that's my opinion.

ferretchucker 02-20-2007 01:08 PM

I'd say normal horror and horror films are different things. Horror films can be anything that makes you feel a bit uneased, anxious and excited . Also, distrubed, terrified and mortified.

That's a very good way to put it imo.

ferretchucker 02-21-2007 06:57 AM

Well thankyou. I personally thought the bear in the fox and the hound was pretty horrific therefore - Fox and the hound = horror.

bwind22 02-21-2007 07:07 AM

I think V for Vendetta belongs in the 'Suck' section. I didn't like that one very much at all & I definately wouldn't count it as horror. It's an actiony comic book kinda movie with nothing that I can see that would qualify it as horror at all without making hundreds of other non-horror films instantly into horror movies.

Please elaborate a bit Posher. In what sense can you see it being considered horror?

Shadow 02-21-2007 07:24 AM

I will have to watch this film. I was unsure if this film was horror or not when i seen the dvd in the shop.

Sounds like a plan.

ferretchucker 02-21-2007 11:38 AM

yuor mission should you choose to accept it is to watch V for Vendettaand return to this thread to post your opinion. You must not be seen or heard or the whole mission will fall apart.

By the way, if you have not seen the film, read no further.

You have me with that. But i'm only referring to this one. Obviously, this movie isn't a HORROR film, but it has enough things that you see in horror films to be called, maybe, a small fraction of one. Such as, you see just his face in the darkness at night in one scene, small things like that. The trauma and torture *spoil* she faces in the jail. *end spoil* , How the people that worked there knew that one day he would come back for them, like in many rebenge style horror films, things like that.
