Great underrated dircectors.

I always hear people spouting off about a handful of directors that they love and I think that there are many great directors that don't get enough attention. Who do you think deserves more respect?

My pick would be Michael Cooney.

Jacques Tourneur.

He's not around anymore (rest in peace), but modern horror owes a lot of its technique to this man. He made some of the most atmospherically frightening films of all time.

Oh yeah..I love him...He's kinda weird...lol...Not as weird as Jeffrey Combs, but still...He's an awesome person...I have most of his movies...I actually just received Dolls today (a replacement for one that mysteriously disappeared)...I can't get enough

Mary Harron. She made I Shot Andy Warhol, American Psycho, and The Notorious Bettie Page. And, yet, I hardly hear a word about her.

Walter Hill - Warriors, Southern Comfort, Streets of Fire - and he produced the Alien franchise (as well as writing the story for Aliens)

people talk about Jack Hill all the time, but Walter has made the better films and continues to deliver the b-movie goods

Herschell Gordon Lewis...He REALLY pushed (and stepped over) the limits for his time...He paved the way for hardcore gore

Dario Argento may be the master of giallo, but my favorite is Sergio Martino!:)

Agree with you on that one dude. I'm a big fan of his flicks. 48 Hrs and The Driver are gold too.

In some ways thats what makes it so great.

Stephen Hopkins. Just watch The Life and Death of Peter Sellers or the first season of 24 to see how great a director this guy can be.
