Its not finished, but....
I have been working on starting a web design and programming business for a while now, and i finally have the site up. it is 90% complete, i just have to incorporate the logo graphics and a spiffy background, but here is the URL:
http://darktreedesign.net/ its one more step towards indepandance. I have a "customer" of sorts right here in this very forum, but i am working pro bono, or more acurately, for our mutual benefit. (So its for free.) Because I need a portfolio. I may be able to swing a similar deal for other folks, which is why i am posting this here. So far i have Scaredyet.org, and soon enough the other, but i could use a couple more. PM me if you are interested. |

If she doesnt already have one, it would cost for the domain name registration and purchasing the web hosting. i go through godaddy.com for that, so it would cost about $75.48 for a year of hosting a deluxe plan, and $8.95 for a .com domain. if all she wanted was simple static content, it could go as low as $43.08 for a year of hosting. Edit: I just noticed that the domain name registration is only $1.99 with a hosting plan, so the cheapest for a year would be $45.07 |
I was a webmaster for a company a while back, ranges from challenging to boring on a regular basis. Good luck!

economy site: $76.56 for 2 years of hosting, plus $1.99 for domain registration.
Deluxe site: $134.16 for 2 years. No problem Dave. :) I can use the references. Quote:

Part of the "package" i will be selling will be a tool that will allow the people who own the site to update it themselves, in case they never want to deal with me again :) |
Sounds like a chore but at least you had stuff to do, I would come in and do an hour of work then sit around for seven hours playing games and listening to music. Boring really.

Okay, i have added the cool background i wanted. the image grows or shrinks to fit your window. check it out. Should work just fine in IE, Firefox and Opera. if anyone is using any other browser, please let me know if you can see the background image (otherwise, it will be black)
|
Anyone? No one? Hello?
You know i wont let this go, so some feedback would be nice :) |

I used to do everything just for IE. then i started getting complaints from peopel here using Opera that a lot of things didnt work, so now i make sure everything works in the big 3, mostly because i have no way to test any of the others (like safari for Mac) |

one of my biggest questions is about the background image. Is it subtle enough to stay in the background? I wanted it to be noticeable, but not interfere with any text in front of it. |

http://nwocover.tripod.com/god-computer.jpg the background image is fine only thing i have noticed so far is the box in the services page is stretched with the corresponding text in the opposite box appearing below instead of level with (fine in IE7) |
