CGI Ghostbusters III?
Source: CISN Country
February 2, 2007

Dan Aykroyd visited radio station CISN Country and revealed that a Ghostbusters III is in the works.

Aykroyd said that the film will be CGI and Bill Murray has agreed to do the voice of Dr. Peter Venkman. No word on whether Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson or any other of the original actors will return to voice their characters.

Downloaded that a long time back. Not bad for a low budget backyard movie, some really good effects too.

You are just a wee one then arent you? :)

I used to love the cartoon series when i was a kid (the Real Ghostbusters, not the one with the stupid godamn gorilla), they had some surprisingly sophisticated plots sometimes, plus they fought Cthulhu once.

Who Ya Gonna Call ?

Hollywood knew exactly who they were gonna call. And Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd look like they're stepping back into their Ghostbusting gear alongside costars Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson for a third Ghostbusters movie.

Columbia Pictures is planning to reunite the stars and revive the 1980s story of Manhattan's valiant exterminators of supernatural foes, according a report in the trade journal Variety".

The new picture is to be written by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, who both worked on bringing Brit hit The Office to the small screen in the U.S.

There is no word on whether Canadian-born director Director Ivan Reitman, who made both the 1984 original and its 1989 sequel, would direct any third movie.

if there is another thread about this...tough...I didn't see it

Disease 09-05-2008 09:07 AM

Cool, this should be fun, though I guess it won't be out for some time. I wish they had of done this ten years ago though.

GorePhobia 09-07-2008 02:30 AM

Well there is news going around that Judd Apatow is going to produce this and it is going to be the old guys training a new team that will possibly consist of Seth Rogen and company.

Which would be amazing!

Bill Murray has always been the least interested about doing another "Ghostbusters" movie but yesterday, speaking at Fantastic Fest, the actor expressed a little more enthusiasm for the project, indicating he's on board.

Aint it Cool News reports that Murray "said that he knew "some writers from THE OFFICE" were taking a stab at the script right now and that he thinks that's a good start. He paused for a few seconds then said that he thinks enough time has passed and that "the wounds from GHOSTBUSTERS 2 are healed" and that he would definitely be into doing another GHOSTBUSTERS movie, stating that the first 40 minutes of the original film is some of the best stuff he's been associated with and the whole shoot was an amazing amount of fun.

He also went on to say that his enthusiasm for Ghostbusters was heightened after recording the voice of Peter Venkman for the video game over the summer. In fact, he said he found himself walking down the street singing the Ghostbusters theme song and then thought people walking around him were going to start yelling at him to "get over yourself, Bill," so he stopped... But the enthusiasm was there."

"The Office" co-exec producers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky have been working on a script designed to bring back the original cast - Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson.

Im looking forward to playing the game.

They will be catching the ghosts of former SNL memeber's senses of humor, the villain being Chevy Chases, which grows like the slime in ghostbusters 2, but is fueled by ego.

The LA Times recently spoke with Dan Aykroyd who has a trio of updates for the forthcoming Ghostbusters 3, which has been in Columbia Pictures' pipeline for quite some time now.

Aykroyd tells the Times that Sigourney Weaver has agreed to reprise her role as Dana Barrett, Peter Venkman's love interest. It was also revealed that shooting is slated to begin this winter and that Ivan Reitman will not be directing.

Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and even Rick Moranis are all said to be returning in the film scripted by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, which will bring a whole new group of Ghost Busters into the fold (including some females this time around).

But don't get too excited just yet as Aykroyd states that "at any second everything could blow up."

_____V_____ 10-09-2009 07:49 AM

The great news this morning on the "Ghostbusters 3" front is that "Ghostbusters" and "Ghostbusters II" director Ivan Reitman is "straight up confirmed, 100%, without a shadow of a doubt" attached to the coming sequel.

He apparently hasn't decided if he's going to direct just yet -- Reitman has been relatively quiet since 2006's "My Super Ex-Girlfriend" -- but any "Ghostbusters"/Reitman pairing is certainly welcome.

To be fair, Reitman told MTV back in June that he'd been talking to Harold (Ramis) and Dan (Aykroyd) about "Ghostbusters 3" , essentially confirming his involvement in the project.

Wait though! There's more!

BD also unearthed the faint whiff of a plot detail. It's not much, but it's definitely enough to fill in a little more of that picture. And since there's no start date for the production, no casting announcements, no tentative release date... we fans will take what we can get.

Okay, here's the word - The sequel will be set some time after the events of the first two films. When the story opens, the Ghostbusters are actually a defunct outfit, their service shut down for unspecified reasons. The story will presumably get rolling after something happens, at which point the 'Busters will "reopen" their old digs.

Awesome news. Now let's get this show on the road please.

Dan Aykroyd reveals Ghostbusters 3 plot details

Quote:

"It’s based on new research that’s being done in particle physics by the young men and women at Columbia University," explains Aykroyd, when the inevitable Ghostbusters question reared its head.

"I can say that the world or the dimension that we live in, our four planes of existence - length, height, width and time - become threatened by some of the research that’s being done. Ghostbusters, new Ghostbusters, have to come and solve the problem.”

Aykroyd recently announced that he expects production to begin in autumn of this year, with cameras to start rolling in 2014.

Hmm, sounds good (except I really don't like the idea of having new guys in it), but I've gotten my hopes up waaaay too many times before to get excited about promises of a new Ghostbusters movie.
