Best Zombie Movies

Ok, im getting pretty sick of seeing stupid lame zombie movies. Im looking for peoples opinion on which ones are worth it.
Other than Dawn of the dead, Land of the dead, 28 days later, Zombie, Zombie 2, Zombie 3, Burial Ground etc, what are some good quality zombie movies I might not of heard of.
I'm sick of going to the video libary and seeing wicked looking Zombie movie covers but they are lame cam corder films with stupid fake gore. Such as Zombie Nation and Children of the dead and Day of the dead 2 etc.
Thx

You may enjoy: "Hell of the Living Dead":)

I Walked With a Zombie and The Serpent and the Rainbow both have fantasticly unique plots...neither contains the typical zombie that you're sick of, but instead a more believable and frightening zombie, the kind that were classicly portrayed. Dead brought to life using voodoo curses, not toxic waste and so on.

alkytrio666 02-03-2007 07:31 AM

Return of the Living Dead is a given, that and Re-Animator. If you haven't seen these, you must. Zombie-comedy is a subject of morbid curiosity, and the above two are a rip-roarin' good time.

Wild Zero
Plaga Zombie - Zona Mutante
Versus
Night of the Comet (wierd bastardization of the Zombie flick)

and "stupid fake gore" is all you'll ever get - no one really gets killed on film, you see...oh and zombies aren't real

DP McCoy 02-03-2007 01:35 PM

A lot of people say this isn't a zombie movie(including the director)however 28 Days Later may fit the bill.

Angra 02-03-2007 03:13 PM

Braindead aka. Dead alive

Dawn of the Dead (remake)

^Those are all quality zombie films.

Rod, you liked Versus? I thought that movie sucked some major ass! One of the only blind buys I immediately regretted purchasing.

And just for the record, I have read interviews where Danny Boyle DOES refer to 28 Days Later as a zombie film. (I think I even posted a link to one once a while ago when the debate was raging.)

DP McCoy 02-07-2007 02:06 AM

Rabid(1977)is an old favourite of mine.

can't get enough gore 02-13-2007 07:09 AM

Dead men walking

begins with a guy shooting these zombies who were his friends( they were infected with a expieramental agent) guys shoots one point blank, gets blood in his mouth....

to make a long story short he goes to a maximum security prison and spreads the virus...and then...all out zombie action!!!!

Papillon Noir 02-13-2007 07:26 AM

I really love Resident Evil & Resident Evil: Apocalypse. The third installment (Extinction) comes out this summer.

Stay clear of Zombieggedon, it may have a decent b-movie cast but it watches like a thomasgeorge post reads, it makes absolutely no sense.

Ok just want to start with.... I watched Shaun of the Dead, I really dont know how I managed to go so long without watching this. Loved it.

Ok now my main point (yes I do have one lol)...... Land of the Dead is on Sky today I am lucky to be staying at my sisters and therefore should be able to watch it.

Can I hear a little about what people think about this film?
Is there more than one film with this title? Is it a remake (date stated on info is 2005)?

I am guessing it is a remake but I get confussed with "of the dead" titled films lol. Normally I watch original then remake but I really cant afford to give in to this silly little weirdness of mine lol so I will have to calm myself and not worry.

Shadow 02-21-2007 05:53 AM

OK think I am just gonna watch it anyway and get back to you about what I thought.

yourlastmistake 02-21-2007 05:58 AM

Land of the Dead is the fourth installment in Romero's Living Dead series. It takes place after zombies have taken over the world, trapping a few survivors in a post-apocalyptic version of the gated community where the line between the haves and have-nots (rich and everyone else) is starkly drawn. Also the ghouls in this movie are somewhat intelligent, which is different from his other movies, Night, Dawn and Day. The first time I watched this movie I wasn't too impressed but that changed after a second viewing.
Since your a fan of Shaun of the Dead I thought I'd let you know that Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright have a small cameo in the movie, they are the chained up ghouls in the "Take your picture with a Zombie" scene. One last thing, no it's not a remake.

Shadow 02-21-2007 06:12 AM

Ah crap. A remake I maybe could have dealt with but the 4th film. :( *huffs* I was looking forward to watching it but I would need to watch the other 3 first. What do you think?

Shadow 02-21-2007 06:15 AM

Its starting *panics*

yourlastmistake 02-21-2007 07:19 AM

No big deal, you can always go back and watch them in order later.

crabapple 03-13-2007 05:38 PM

The neat thing about zombie films is that even the very worst of them are usually enjoyable enough in some way.
