Not a moment too soon.
Okay, i have been pretty proud of myself for the past couple of months because i successfully reigned back my caffeine consumption (at my peak about 4 months ago, i was drinking close to a quart to a half gallon of coffee a day).
In light of some recent events (a bottle of Jack Daniels that did a disappearing act), i decided i need to do the same thing with booze. the last drink i had was on Sunday, and i have been cheerier. Now, i am only doing this until Feb 28, but i am hoping it will allow me to keep things more incheck, but check this out: i fopund this online: A person going through alcohol detox will experience many withdrawal symptoms. These symptoms can appear 6-48 hours after ceasing alcohol consumption. Mild withdrawal symptoms may include: Shaking (in my case, very mild and not very much) Perspiration Depression Bad dreams Headaches Vomiting Restlessness Loss of appetite Insomnia yay me. i apparently regularly consumed enough alcohol to have withdrawl symptoms. Dont i feel cool:rolleyes: |
My last drink was Sunday also.
But its friday now http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...nmule/beer.gif |

I do everything just enough.
I used to get hardcore shakes, fully body tremors. If I was holding a cigarette, my hand would be extremely shaky. Doesn't happen anymore, I couldn't be a heart surgeon but my hand isn't noticeably spastic. Anyway good luck, Vodstok. :) |

I never knew that drinking too much coffee can give you migranes.
Shit so i cut back from 12 cups a day to 6.. Haven't touched alcohol since i was 18. aint i a teachers pet :o |
It doesnt hurt watching shows like grey's anatomy and house and seeing repeatedly people having complications becuse of cirrhosis. I dont need to make life any harder than it is. Not to mention wondering if i should take something for my headache because i might want a drink and i dont want my liver to fail... just stupid..

Moderation......thats the key.

I dont understand people who drink to the point of feeling like a turd for 3 days. If you stop drinking when your already hammered you will be fine. However Vod. Withdrawls suck for everything..especially alcohol. So i feel your pain. Well not really but i could imagine. Just replace your alcohol consumption with water consumption. Its better for ya anyhow |
I have a 6 pack of coke in the fridge, a gallon of 2% milk and some chocolate syrup. Soda and chocolate milk make everything better :)

Every now and then, if I think I've been drinking too much I'll take a week off just to prove I can.
I was literally drunk for four years straight. It was rediculous. Wake up, drink an Irish coffee. Start drinking beer. Go to work at the bar, have a couple of shots here and there. Close the bar, have about 5 mixed drinks with the rest of the crew. Stumble to the 7-11, buy a 12pack. Go home and drink until I pass out. Wake up in the middle of the night, chug beer, go back to bed. Repeat process. I'm not exaggerating at all here. Of course, I was younger and I'm happy with my moderation now. Still though, if I catch myself getting out of control, it's no booze for a week. |

When I was around 18 (a long time ago). I had a serious drug and alcohol problem. Taking heroic doses of pain pills, snorting Cocaine and Heroin, eating too much Acid , pretty much everything but needles. Needless to say I needed HELP.
I got help and had very bad withdrawals from the coke, heroin and booze. I am NOT clean and sober today.....but I definitely don't touch hard drugs as much as I use to. Mainly I smoke weed and drink on the weekends with my friends. I hope everything works out for you Vodstok.. |

What's funny about that? Did you read the contents of his message? |
Damn, now that makes me want to quit drinking. Does PBR count? I mean it's so watered down!!! I want to stop smoking but it goes so well with drinking! Oh boy, I'm afraid if I stop everything at once, I'll piss off people I don't really want to piss off. I just don't want the side effects to be a job threat. Hmm...I should be on more anti-depressants, maybe that will help.

Didn't someone just make a joke relating to irony in another thread? |
The only thing I thought was worth quitting was smoking. I did it, after a while, and I guess I'm better off because of it. I still LOVE the smell of secondhand smoke though. Congrats on curbing and controlling your vices, as long as you control them then everything's good.
