Clockwork Orange

i was talking to a friend of mine and she told me about this movie clockwork orange she said it is one of the fuck up movies that was ever made that there was a rape scene and not once did they cut from it i really want to see this movie what is your intake on it?

Vodstok 02-02-2007 04:50 AM

Clockwork orange is really disturbing. People who like it because of the depth, filmmaking, and cultural significance are fine. people who like it for just about any other reason have some deep issues.

Roderick Usher 02-02-2007 07:55 AM

It's brilliant, watch it.

true i saw parts of it on you tube im not saying that i just want to see it because of the rape scene but the fact that is a good movie i saw the reviews on it all pretty much said the same thing do you know if its in any local movie rental place?

Hate_Breeder 02-02-2007 10:48 AM

One of the best of all time.

Kubrick is great. If you have any appreciation of horror movies or movies in general, then go buy it.

I rented it myself a few months back so some video stores should have it. I think another reason you should watch Clockwork Orange is that it has had an influence on subsequent movies, music etc. You often see references to it in other films and it adds to your experience to know where these allusions are coming from.

Personally, i think this is the best reason to watch it. you suddenly "get" a lot of things.

Papillon Noir 02-02-2007 12:22 PM

The rape scene in Clockwork Orange is not that graphic, but it is very disturbing because Alex (Malcolm McDowell) is singing "Singin' in the Rain" while he's doing it, and his friends make the lady's husband watch. But this scene is not part of the meat of the movie except to show Alex's character at this point (which is early on).

The movie is more about Alex as a violent deviant who gets caught and is forced into rehabilitation and then released back into the world where he gets his just desserts, though Alex wins out in a high note in the end. Alex's world also feels like an alternate reality, because it has it's own slang and the Milk Bar is rather "different".

The more disturbing thing about the movie is the music. During scenes with violence (and sometimes sex), there is uplifting classical music being played, making you realize how very wrong Alex's going-ons are. Similar to the "ear scene" in Resvoir Dogs.

This film is also very Kubrick, with a lot of his signature colors and shots. I would also recommend The Shinning by Kubrick with Jack Nicholson and Shelly DuVall, it is much more horror than Clockwork Orange but equally as good.

Clockwork Orange is a horrifying, in depth look at a subject that was, is, and forever will be affecting our culture every day, in so many horrible ways.

See it.

I can see two schools of thought going on here. Those who enjoy exploring the nature of true darkness, violence and bloodlust that is the warp and whoof of the horror genre and those who just want a quick slash and a ton of gore without wondering from where that impuse arose.

ferretchucker 02-19-2007 10:59 AM

It isn't really that horrible anyway. It's more violent than sick.

Ok, hereīs my reason why it sucks, because itīs a silly fucking crap movie from 1971 which has the following plot, 4 clowns are running around with sticks and iron bars, running around and picke and poke on people, omg how dangerous:eek: lol, xD, I can understand on the 70īs but today, lol is all I can say.

ferretchucker 02-20-2007 01:21 PM

It's like the exorcist. Okay film but way over rated. I still can't understand why it was banned.

No, the film is about crime and punishment. It's about amorality and the torturous steps society will take to try to make the most perverse person "normal."

The Ludovico Method is a nightmare of epic proportions. Every element of this film is the work of a master at the height of his craft. Ones who cannot recognize this lose all credibility as film reviewers in my eyes.

ditto!

AsylumSeeker 03-26-2007 05:03 PM

I'd point out, too, that's it's a serious matter of contention on a lot of boards whether or not this is horror. I thought it was brilliant and really disturbing along the lines of Blue Velvet. That whole surreal violence/reaction thing.

swiss tony 03-27-2007 12:03 AM

i think its possibly sci fi. a vision of the future!

stubbornforgey 03-27-2007 05:16 AM

argh..it sucked..
it was boring..
It was only popular then because it overstepped boundries never done before
back in that era.
Makes me laugh..there was such a public outcry when it 1st came out..
the rape scene wasn't as explicit as many of them are in todays movies

Rob Bottin 03-27-2007 06:50 AM

Am I the only one here who think it should be rated 13?
