Just out of curiosity, why did you make two threads on this?

evil squirrel 10-25-2006 11:21 PM

One of the very first proper horrors i saw when i was a kid, If you kind of ignore the fact that its part of the halloween series it stands alone as (in my opinion) an effective if not slightly flawed film.
Give it a go. I love the atmospherics in it......

bwind22 10-25-2006 11:31 PM

Yep, it's good. No MIchael Myers in the storyline at all so don't go in to it expecting the typical Halloween movie, but it's still cool in it's own right.

alkytrio666 10-26-2006 03:45 AM

I blind-bought this this week, plan on watching it Saturday. I'll let you know what I think of it.

_____V_____ 10-26-2006 04:16 AM

I think its a pretty decent flick, independent of the franchise.

That is, if you dont blow your load all over the DVD before actually watching it, but of course...

the_real_linda 10-26-2006 10:45 AM

aaaahhhhhhh! it was a pointless film......seriously why????

Burning in Hell 10-26-2006 11:59 AM

The best thing in the whole movie is the Carpenter score at the beginning in my opinion...

I think...I'm going...to explode...

Yes, it is worth a watch. Is it great? Not really, but it was a good attempt at unique franchise that ended up being another enless slasher film fest.

Roderick Usher 10-27-2006 07:44 AM

"Happy, Happy Halloween...Halloween...Halloween...Happy, Happy Halloween...Silver Shamrock"

That fucking song destroyed me.

Don't watch. Highly caustic. Avoid contact with eyes, ears and brain.

Its contagious to the point of clawing the skull to get the fucking ditty out your head alright!

I thought it was definately worth a watch, a good stand alone flick and a nice change from the usual slashers.

slayer666 10-27-2006 12:18 PM

I watched this again recently and liked it even more than I remember. It is dated and fairly cheesy, but there is something cool about it.

PhilnEdee 10-27-2006 04:16 PM

The original idea bout making 10-20 Halloween movies, new one each Halloween, all different stories,,,ala Masters of Horror was great...then Michael Myers came and everyone wanted more of him, so #2 had him in it as well...I personally thought #3 was crap, but it was different and it made me hope that #4 would come out the next Halloween and NOT be about Michael Myers also, be totally diferent story...

crazy raplh 10-27-2006 06:25 PM

I think it is the best one

1beastieibe 10-27-2006 11:01 PM

I love this movie, and Im not afraid to admitt it, it just gets a hard rap because of the whole Michael Myers thing.

urgeok 10-28-2006 04:08 AM

See my post above...the idea was to have a different story each time, each Halloween...as for Freddy, Nightmare 1 and 2 were on amc during the day I guess...and I fell asleep watching #1 the other night, check out the schedule on amc

Halloween triv.

Apart from the name, halloween 2 and halloween 3 do have a connection.

Dick Warlock now retired an actor/stuntman, was the stunt Michael Myers in H2 and the bad guy (robot?) in the beginning of H3.

Just in case it comes up in the survivor challenge somewhere!

the_real_linda 10-28-2006 03:44 PM

i never knew that bout the whole diffrent story each halloween........i think that would have worked out kinda cool.....shame they tried it out with the 3rd one and the left it.....cause i liked the myers thing and its all there fault

Tad 10-28-2006 03:47 PM

I honestly dug Halloween 3 more than I did 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. And it's not even about Myers. Love that god damn movie.

the_real_linda 10-28-2006 03:55 PM

ill give it another go before sometime soon

Elvis_Christ 10-28-2006 04:06 PM

Halloween III is great. I thought it was pretty cool how they left out Myers after his demise in Halloween II and didn't bring him back to life in some retarded way.

the_real_linda 10-28-2006 04:11 PM

until halloween 4?????

The lashout when 3 came out was so bad that the whole project got shelved, rumors are Tobe Hooper had a story going for #4...may be one of his other movies out now...then somehow, someway they got back to the Michael Myers idea...but the orginal idea was for totally different story each year at Halloween.

gorbyak 11-01-2006 12:49 PM

I really havent seen it in many many years, probably near 20. I do remember being bored as hell and not enjoying it, maybe someday I will watch it again.

freddy69 11-06-2006 02:37 AM

no halloween 3 sucks big time ,it makes no sense to me , ithought it was really stupid:rolleyes:

Halloween III: Season of the Witch, soo misunderstood!

Sure some of you are saying "There is no Michael Myers in this one, what did this have to do with the first two? or the series?" well i believe this highly malgined and unloved Sci-fi horror thriller is very good.

You see folks, you have to realize that Michael Myers died at the end of "Halloween II", John Carpenter with Dino De Laurentiis studios and Debra Hill with Moustapha Akkad had an idea to make the series into a big-screen horror anthology series much like "Creepshow" or "Tales from The Crypt" centering around the halloween holiday which would have been better if the Halloween sequels continued this route to do something different instead of the same old Michael. Unfortunately it bombed at the box-office and was panned by both critics (Even though a few of them liked the movie) and horror fans alike thus the anthology idea was scrapped and Michael returned in "Halloween 4".

I thought this was an interesting movie that combines occult horror with technological sci-fi much like "Event Horizon" or "Evilspeak", it's got a great Carpenter score and a good storyline with a fine performance by tom Atkins who's good as always in his movies with good splatter.

Just suspend your disbelief over the title and enjoy the movie for what it is.

The_Return 02-01-2007 02:02 PM

Edited Post

Elvis_Christ 02-01-2007 02:52 PM

I really like this flick. It would've been quite cool if the anthology thing happened but I guess people didn't want to think outside the square.

The_Return 02-01-2007 03:03 PM

Ive yet to see it myself, looks pretty cool though.

Planning to work my way through the Halloween series in a couple months, once I get my hands on 'em all. Ive gone through Friday the 13th and Im going to finish the Nightmare on Elm Street movies tonight...Halloween just seems like the natural next step. As yet Ive only seen the first 2, both of which are among my favourite slashers.

Elvis_Christ 02-01-2007 03:23 PM

The first two are easily the best (#2 is my favorite). I like this whole series except for Ressurection... but that had a great opening (Busta Rhymes is fucking painfull to watch however).

Gus 02-01-2007 07:02 PM

the keys, the keys

Roderick Usher 02-01-2007 07:33 PM

fucking Silver Shamrock song broke my brain...totally toxic, I can't watch the film without having an apoplectic fit

Spec7ral 02-01-2007 08:24 PM

It's got tom atkins. that's about all you need to make a sure shot rockstar of a movie.

garthmanorgirl 02-01-2007 09:28 PM

Seriously, I think that guy gets lucky with complete strangers in movies quicker than anyone else I've ever seen:D
