Plot Summary for
The Killer Shrews (1959)

A disparate group are trapped on a remote island by a hurricane. On the island, a doctor works to make humans twice as small as we already are. This, apparently, will help prevent over population. Unfortunately, his experiments have also created some giant shrews. As the shrews run out of smaller animals to eat, they move in on the people in the house.

The_Return 01-29-2007 08:52 AM

Killer Shrews is a damn good time man. Its cheesy, but definatly one of the best 50's creature-features around.

stygianwitch 01-29-2007 08:54 AM

THEM is a must, definitely one of the best

Here's a few more.... not all good though :o

Arachnid
Tarantula
Komodo
Python
Bugs
They Nest
Infested

I'm sure a few more will come to mind :)

The_Return 01-29-2007 09:07 AM

Rats: Night of Terror is somewhat entertaining. Not good by any means, but enjoyable in a "so-bad-its-funny" kind of way.

Doc Faustus 01-29-2007 10:08 AM

Them, Tarantula, Phase Four, Beginning of the End (cheesy fun), Strays(really awful), Devil Dog the Hound from Hell, Zoltan Hound of Dracula, Hound of the Baskervilles, It Came from Beneath the Sea, Tentacles, Devilfish, The Swarm

Despare 01-29-2007 10:10 AM

If you consider Slither to be one of these then you may want to check out Night of the Creeps.

Squirm is a pretty cool flick with killer worms :D

You can't go wrong with Invasion of the Bee Girls (well it kinda fits into this category haha).

Shadow 01-30-2007 06:17 AM

Shadow 01-31-2007 08:34 AM

hahahaha I soooo wanna see that one. Mantis Rock!

Roderick Usher 01-31-2007 08:36 AM

The "They're Creeping Up On You" segment of CREEPSHOW always gives me the willies

And the sound design on THEM still bugs me.

a mccuaig 01-31-2007 08:59 AM

Jaws is the best! The Beginning Of The End is funny. Giant crickets! Although it's better with the MST 3000 version.

ferretchucker 01-31-2007 12:48 PM

Some of the old ones are funny

Tarantula
Lobsterman
Giant squid

Roderick Usher 01-31-2007 03:09 PM

BLACK SHEEP comes out soon and it should be brilliant. Killer sheep created by WETA Workshop evicerate NewZealanders by the dozen!!!

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d5.../frogshalf.jpg

...also check out "Of Unknown Origin" (1983) ..its about an giant Rat

Posher778 02-01-2007 04:28 AM

The Beast

I loved this when I was a kid, about a big giant squid, and its pretty good if i remember...

Creature

This used to be on tv a lot, and i have no idea where to find it, but its awesome.
Creature on a tropical inhabited island deal, but its long and lots of jumps.

Mimic AND Mimic 2 are great...Mimic 3 sucks

I'm trying to think of some that haven't been mentioned...Urge took the first one I thought of :)

Ticks - My favorite scene is what happens to the guy who played Carlton in Fresh Prince of Belair

Frankenfish - Sounds kinda lame, but it's actually an excellent movie...Well, we really like it, anyway

Carnisaur

Squirm

Alex said, "Eight-Legged Freaks"

I know that I have tons more that I'm just not thinking of right now...Sometimes I get in a mood to watch nothing but creature features, so I have quite a lot of them (many have already been mentioned in this thread by others)

Note:

Larva is absolutely terrible...Don't waste your time

AND

King Of The Ants is NOT about ANTS...But, it IS an excellent movie...I love Stuart Gordon

Posher778 02-01-2007 05:26 AM

Rayne is right, larva is one of the most retarded movies ever, with the dumbest looking monsters ever. Pick up a blanket and throw it at someone, is it scary? No, thats what the monsters look like.

bloodrayne 02-01-2007 05:36 AM

Bats wasn't too bad...But, the book was SOOO much better

I can NEVER remember the name of that movie...Or...Am I thinking of something completely different?

supposed to be pretty good though

Yes!!...Charleton Heston...That IS the one

It isn't really a typical horror movie...There's no gore, or anything 'scary'...But, for some reason I really like it...I think maybe it's just the constant threat that keeps it tense and makes it 'kinda' scary...Well, and maybe the fact that people die...Something about it is just REALLY good...

Maybe it's the 'reality factor'...Knowing that we are severely outnumbered if nature wanted to take over or something...
