Red Dragon

Is it ok to see this movie If I have never seen Hannibal or SOTL? I want to rent it, but I dont want to be all confused. The reason Im not renting SOTL or Hannibal is because I live in a pathetically small town and they arent in stock at my rental place.

Red Dragon is the prequel to SOTL and then Hannibal it is a good film but is almost identical word for word with the film called Manhunter which is also very good. But like I said Red Dragon and Manhunter are almost identical films with a few scenes that are slightly different. If you like Hopkins as Lechter then you have to see it.

i actually liked red dragon a lot better than manhunter.

I just watched it and all I can say is WOW
That is the best horror movie I have ever seen, and It might be on the top ten of all films. I absolutely loved it. Anthony Hopkins is amazing, and Ive never seen Ralph Fienes in an "ugly" role before, I was in awe!

I have heard lots of people telling me that it was the worst of the series, and that Manhunter is better. But for me, this is the perfect horror movie. It has atmosphere, great acting, interesting characters and so much more!

I think Manhunter is better than Red Dragon because its not so over the tape and creates a darker atomosphere. I thought Hannibal sucked it had some pretty cool gore scenes that were quite amusing, the bit witht the brains :) Silence of the Lambs is the best of the series its so gritty and intense probably one of the best thrillers ever made.

red dragon OWNS manhunter, it follows THE BOOK lol. thats what makes it kick ass. Manhunter just went its own way, and the shotgun shootout with ana-gotta-divida at the end:rolleyes:   no thanks, ill take edward nortan and hopkins anyday

Ed Norton is a fag he's a terribly cheesey actor. The original Manhunter ruled!

I just hate most hollywood actors. Fight Club was a very cool movie though. American History X sucked tho I think that movie is weak Romper Stomper is THE skinhead film.

Gotta agree with you on this one...dont even get me started on the music side of Red Dragon...ELFMAN fucking ROCKS;)

I liked the Red Dragon. I never did see Manhunter though, so there really isn't anything for me to compare or anything.

I liked Red Dragon better than Manhunter. Although Hopkins looks a lot older than his SOTL part. Which is odd for continuty. But if you can ignore that, its a good movie IMO.

God your not kidding. Some soundtracks he does are kinda subtle and you dont even know its him really. But he fucking rocked the house on red dragon. I saw it the day it came out in the theater and i knew it was him BEFORE it credited him in the opening. He just has so much style in his scores. Fucking great composer

Okay, I watched Manhunter the other night. It pretty much is just like Red Dragon. I couldn't beleive it. Ha.Ha.Ha. I still stick with Red Dragon though.

Going with Manhunter on this one. Tom Noonan was a damn creepy guy. Loved the fireball wheelchair scene too.

Also, William Peterson was really good in this flick. This was one of his best performances, along with To Live and Die in L.A.
