Me too, but since moving to a new place I've got so many other things I need to get. I'll probably wait till late summer before up dating my Pc. |
I will probably have to wait to, but i am dying. i had to wait over a year to play halflife when it came out because my pc at the time couldnt handle it. i dont want to have to deal with that ever again.

Looks pretty and all...but really, could they not have made a game that didn't look like just another far cry? A different style or setting would be good...

Crysis Single Player Demo
The Crysis single player demo is now available from a mirror near you.
Who has tried it? What are your thoughts? Downloaded it this morning. It is about 1.8 gigs so a decent size download. I haven't played very much, but already it looks amazing. A considerable improvement from Far Cry, which when it was released was amazing in its own right. The graphics look great, especially the island in the daytime. Items in the environment (for example, trees) can be destroyed, so your own or enemy fire may cut down parts of the landscape, destroying cover. Gameplay seems good, although I haven't gone very far. The enemy hides/uses cover. Can't really comment on how good the AI is due to the limited time I have spent with it. Needless to say, this is all quite system-intensive. I have Vista, an E6600 overclocked to 3.2ghz, 2gb of 800mhz RAM, an 8800GTX, and lots of drive space, and I can run the graphics on "very high" for everything, but without AA. If I turn on AA, I get noticeable drops in FPS when there are enemies around, to the point where things get very jerky. Without AA, it still looks amazing! I recommend giving this one a go, but unless you have a reasonably high-end system, be prepared to turn the details way down. |
PC is nowhere near good enough for it...gonna have to pick up that ps3 soon, I'll see if it comes out on that.
Looking foward to playing another massive story driven free-roam sci-fi/action FPS. |
I have gone through the demo.
Looks very promising. The enemy AI seemed a little odd at times - I shot at the enemy and then crouched behind some vegetation, but in the same position, and when I got up they were facing/firing in the opposite direction. At other times, however, the AI was quite good, for example the enemy throwing grenades in my general direction when hiding. Can't wait to get the full version. |
Downloading it now...upto 87%, as I am typing this.
Will share my view later tonight. |
It looks amazing, and the amount of damage that you can cause to the environment (and how real it looks) is brilliant.
|
I played it...and I must say its awesome. The number of ways in which you can interact with your environment is brilliant...and they have used the genX physics in pleasantly surprising ways.
The graphics are excellent btw, and so is the sound. This one tops Far Cry by a mile...and that pretty much sums it up. Pick this up. My recommendation to all avid gamers out there, including Vod, Despare, Cheebs, etc. |
I'm gonna have to wait a bit.....I kinda go on and off with games....I play for a few weeks...then quit for a few...I'm on off mode at the moment.
also in the middle of four games Halo3 Bioshock The Darkness Call of Juarez |

You play as two characters....one more into stealth...the other more into guns.So far its a pretty good game but as I've said...i'm not that far into it. |

I got Call of Juarez a little while ago. It's actually a lot of fun.
You get to play a couple of characters in the story, and it is quite an interesting story too. And it's fun holding a couple of six shooters :) The graphics are good with the DirectX 10 update too. |

I was actually on the fence as to whether I would get it or not, but after reading the review, I am drooling for crysis they was I was bioshock (which i have yet to finish, damn hard drive crashed. I would think for $3000, the harddrive would be a bit more stable) |
Crysis was released on Friday here in Australia - picked up a copy straight away.
Graphically, it is amazing. Really amazing. Bioshock looked great, but being an "inside" game, it doesn't have the same impact of the enormous scope of an "outdoor" game like Crysis. In Crysis, lots of the environment is destructible. For example, if you are firing your machine gun at an enemy, and there is a palm tree in the way, your gun will cut it down, and it will fall like a real tree does, blocking a path etc. You do come to realise that not all trees can be cut down, and it loses some of its mystique for this, but it is still a big step forward in realistic environmental modelling. Also, the landscape is quite rugged, you can get behind a rock wall or a natural trench and practice some stealth against the enemy. You need to be accurate with your weapons. The AI is not perfect, but it is good. It does stress a high end system. I have an E6600 @ 3.6ghz, 2gb 800mhz RAM, 8800GTX and I can play at highest graphics settings @ 1280x1024 without AA on. AA gives a noticeable impact on framerate, to the point that it detracts from gameplay. I am playing through the single player campaign before going multiplayer, so I can't comment on that yet. This was a must-have game for me, and I don't regret buying it. I don't feel let down despite the huge amount of hype that came with this game. It really is that good. |
Crysis
Has anyone played this yet? If you are going to, finish whatever you are playing, play the next couple you were planning on playing, THEN play it.
PC Gamer gave it a 98%, their highest rating ever, and it deserves EVERY POINT. The gameplay is incredible, the deaths are ridiculously entertaining, the weapons rule. I played a scene last night that resembled a tank battle from a WW2 movie. There is nothing like sniping north koreans from half a mile off with incindiary rounds while fading from sight like the predator. If that sounds cool, it is SHIT compared to the actual gameplay. Go get it. NOW. |
I would love to play this but I ain't shelling out hundreds of dollars to upgrade my machine again.

gee, if i had an ultra super computer, I'd get it right away.
|
I dont have an ultra super computer and I finished it this weekend. Its an awesome game.
|
I got it when it first came out.
I thought it was good. The graphics are obviously amazing. (I can play it at high-very high in DX10 at 1920x1200). I thought the best parts were the earlier missions against the human enemy. I sort of lost interest when it headed underwater. |
a lot of reviews marveled on the 0 gravity levels. they were clever and well done, but yeah, offing north koreans was the best part. the final scene on the aircraft carrier was intense though. it felt like a movie.
