hey man, i love 'the beyond', there are parts in it that are so weird. for example, the weird guy who works in the hotel, the one who's always sweating. i also love when the girl's head explodes and the whole thing about weird things happening to people's eyes. another cool fulci movie is 'house by the cemetery' which is also weird as hell. another great movie is 'zombie'. those are all the movies i've seen of his. i've looked for some others, but they are difficult to find. :D

I'm a big fan of Fulci and thought The Beyond was a killer flick! Zombie and House By The Cemetary are awesome. City Of The Living Dead has a couple of really great gorey moments and great atomosphere. Murder Rock is a pretty decent giallo style murder mystery (he toned down the violence for this one tho). I thought Possessed was average but a couple of trademark moments made it worth a watch but that flick ultimatley just gives you a headache.
The New York Ripper is hands down my favorite outta the stuff of his I've seen... but there's still a lot more movies of his I need to check out.

Chas Balun's book Beyond The Gates is worth a read if you can find a copy.

i fully aknowledge that if i'd seen The Beyond 20 years ago - i would have loved it. unfortunately i saw it for the 1st time a couple of years ago - after having my hopes built up .. i think its time has passed.

Is it a good giallo?

Ive sadly only seen 2 of his films: House by the Cemetery and Zombi. Both were great and Im planning to check out more in the near future:)

The Flayed One 01-13-2007 03:24 AM

I've really enjoyed what I've seen of Fulci. Unfortunately, as far as I recall that amounts to four movies. Need to see more, but dig his style.

zwoti 01-13-2007 05:16 AM

just be careful on which you pick

I must say that Zombie Flesh Eaters has become a new favourite movie for me.

The New Barbarian 01-15-2007 07:55 AM

Has anyone seen A Cat In The Brain? Its about Fulci killing people in very very very very gorey ways.

I have only seen the trailer:( but it looked really good.

Elvis_Christ 01-28-2007 03:09 PM

I'd like to check out Cat In The Brain but haven't seen it floating about over here.

noctuary 01-29-2007 07:23 AM

Don't Torture a Duckling is one of my favorite movie names ever. Haven't seen the film yet though.

From what I've seen of Fulci, I've found his films entertaining, yet sadly let down by often amateurish acting. I know that Fulci had talent as a director, but I think the casting in his films is suspect. If all you're looking for is a gory good time however, I think you could do much worse than picking up a few of his flicks.

I can never find a copy of The Beyond. :(

If you loved The Beyond, then you are a Fulci fan. I envy you because you get to see his films for the first time. In order of best to worst (that I have seen) here they are in my opinion:

Zombie
The Beyond
City of the Dead (Gates of Hell, whatever)
House by the Cemetary (the last 20 minutes make it good)

I just wish there were more good ones!
