this is a post i made in the Last Seen Movie thread, it didnt get any replies so i thought i might make a thread out of it. here was the post.

"oh yeah, what im looking for is a movie where the hero gets a shit load of revenge, the hero is a total bad ass, and the hero fucks eveyone up hardcore. best example ive seen yet is Wake Of Death. Its kinda what i was expecting for oldboy..you know.."15 years of imprisonment, 5 days of vengeance". really kinda ended up 1 day of vengeance and four days of figuring out shit.

I know, those type of movies are usually pretty generic, but i just love them so much. anyy sugestions?"

Robo Cop is another good one.

oldboy is definately a revenge film.

never said it wasnt a revenge film...just kinda doesnt end up the way i wanted it too. some revenge...but not enough. let down ending.

Dead Man's Shoes is a good revenge flick.

it looks good. so is the dude in the film a total badass or no?

Mothman,Dead Man's Shoes is a little slow,and it has very little blood or gore,but it is still a good flick.

dont really care 'bout blood and gore, but it is important for it to be well paced.

The Punisher (1990)- Dolph Lundgren is a mean ass vigilante in this one.:D
I think the DVD of this is out of print.:(

The Punisher (2004)- Buy the extended cut of this.

My Walmart had about 15 copies of it on sale for 5.00$ during Boxing Day Sale Week, so I think it's still in print... but I can't be sure.

it was a double revenge film .. revenge for the bad guy and revenge for the good guy ..

ah. i never looked at it that way.

Kill Bill. All 3 of the revenge trilogy by Chan-wook Park (especially Oldboy as you have already seen). Crank :D Payback.

Also thinking about it, Unbreakable is a good one. He's not exactly inacting revenge for anything done to him, but at the end when you realise hes hard as fuck and kills an evil bastard, its a powerful scene.

when you think about it - 90% of horror films are revenge films ..
they almost always end with the skinny babysitter fighting for survival, then getting the kill shot in 'for all of her dead friends'

not much of a revenge film really.

so...about sympathy for mr. vengeance..

does it has fight scenes styled kinda lke the one in oldboy? because i was crazy about that scene.

infact, is there any movie you would suggest that has a bunch of gritty fight scenes kinda like that one?

sympathy for mr and lady: neither have fight scenes comprable to oldboy.

if you want highly stylized fight scenes try equilibrium and kung fu hustle

kung fu hustle is a comedy isnt it?

Point Blank.... Lee Marvin is bad assed in that fucker.
Old school Steven Seagal flicks are pretty decent for that kinda thing especially Out For Justice.

yeah KFH is a comedy, but it has some cool fight scenes and stuff, really enjoyable flick to watch if youre in the mood for something light.

Thriller: A Cruel Picture
(AKA They Call Her One Eye)

It's decent; really bad shit happens, girl gets pissed, kills lots of people in slow motion. There's some hardcore sex scenes in the unrated version so steer clear if you're offended.

it doesnt have a ton of action compared to films now - but it has that gritty 70's exploitation feel that a lot of people dig.

i like the movie ...but not for the action ..

This is one of the rare instances in which the edited version is the superior film. A Cruel Picture is too long and the hardcore sex is soooo not hot. The Edited version They Call her One Eye is quite a bit shorter - and as a result, the pacing fits and the story. Cool, fun, gory shit.
