What game are you looking foward to the most?

What game coming out soon are you most anxious to play?Well,I am a Silent Hill fan so I cant wait for the next game in the series..

Phalanx 12-23-2006 07:33 PM

Quake 4 (when I have a good enough pc)
Fable 2
Anything further from the Max Payne series

A really GOOD zombie game...the xbox one is just too hectic to be really fun and have good atmosphere, felt way too arcadey, LOTD:Fiddlers Green had the right feel, but a lot of room for improvement, Postal 2: Apocalypse weekend was close...progress IS happening, the definitive zombie game will yet come out...

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance (on the wii)
Far Cry 2 (or any sequels)
Haven't played the halflife episodes yet, they look good.
New Sam 'n' Max
Call of Duty 3 (wii)

Anything cool like Runaways, Broken Sword, Quest for Glory...questy/adventure type games.

Try the They Hunger mod for Half Life... incredible zombie game.

X¤MurderDoll¤X 12-24-2006 05:28 AM

you think postal II is a better zombie game then dead reckoning?

Not really looking forward to any games, happy with whats out right now though. :p

umm well there is Resident Evil 5.

Despare 12-24-2006 05:50 AM

I was looking forward to City of the Dead, the Romero based game released as more of a companion to Land of the Dead than Fiddler's Green and starring Tom Savini.

The apocalypse weekend expansion, the zombie parts there were (pretty much the whole latter half of the game) were more fun, and the zombies looked really good....Then, I haven't got into dead rising all that much...one thing I did pick up is that it was way too arcadey, and when there's that many zombies, it felt as though any kind of scary atmosphere was shot to hell...I disliked it for the same reason I disliked "state of emergency" I think a zombie horde here and there in a game is fine, but the whole game? Any kind've novelty wore off in about 5 minutes. There's also something about a FPS that makes this kind've game work so much better.

Have done, wasn't bad.

Newb...crackdown looks kinda interesting. Very "sega". What comp. is it being released under? Any more details?
And, yeah stranglehold is on my list too.

Clive Barkers Jericho will definately get some play time.
Haven't played "hellgate: London" yet either.
Might pick this up too http://www.gopostal.com/store/fudgepack.php
The new ZELDA looks pretty good.
Games in general...just looking out for some good ones on the wii...I don't think any of their release titles have been all that strong, so it should be cool to see what's out over the next year, other than that, I'm looking foward to playing some of my old favourites on the wii, largescreen and running to perfection. Flashback, shining force, streets of rage...fun stuff.

Oh you want a scary zombie game, gotcha. I thought you wanted like a good dawn of the dead type game. Also why do I keep calling the game Dead Reckoning? :(

Resident Evil 4 scared the crap out of me, hearing a chainsaw in the distance and then you turn around and that crazy burlap sack woman has got a chainsaw in your neck already! :D

Phalanx 12-24-2006 09:40 AM

Yeah, scary, atmpspheric, fearing for my "life" kinda deal. The fiddlers green one was alright for that.

Never played it...might do since the wii is backwards compatible.
I liked what I played of #0 too, wouldn't mind trying that again...the ones on ps2 were largely shit though. I don't know about the RE1 remake...I feel there's no way they could improve it enough to go through it again, I've completed the original like 5 times...looked interesting though, but I'd rather #0 or 4.

Despare 12-24-2006 10:00 AM

I think there were times where Dead Rising really got fun and packed with tension. The cultists when you first run upon them, trying to disarm bombs while being run over/shot at/attacked by zombies, and the overall feel of the overwhelming numbers. Of course it's more "arcade" like but I think that gameplay is well suited for taking on mobs of the undead. You can have fun and goof around if you want and make it more of a horror comedy game but you can also play it through as a tense, thrilling experience (but not too "arcadey" like Zombies Ate My Neighbors!). Anyway, I loved Dead Rising.

Blue Dragon, Dark Sector, Lost Planet, Cipher Complex, Crackdown, Def jam: Icon, Alan Wake, Mass Effect, Assassins Creed, Bioshock, Fable 2, Army of Two... I think all of those look promising.

Phalanx 12-24-2006 12:02 PM

I'm sure it's not a bad game, but still...not my style.
Zombies ate my Neighbours was great fun...not really a zombie game exclusively though, zombies were actually very small a part of it. Can't wait to get myself a copy on the WII.

One I've wantrd to play for some time now is "Bad Day LA", another game from American McGee, who gave us "Alice"...most of his games seem pretty creative (spal loved scrapland, I was down with Alice), and in a "world of their own"...and this one just looks psycho, and fun, a little like "incredible crisis"
(if anyone at all remembers that) but a little deeper, and looks better too...there's a trailer up at
http://au.gamespot.com/pc/action/bad...toplay=6134296
check it out.

I always got eaten by zombies because I'd always try to charge in the middle with a shovel or something. :o

Vodstok 12-26-2006 04:53 AM

Hooo.. Where to begin....

I need a new rig for everything i want (plus about a 500% increase in time.....)
Bioshock
Half-Life 2: Episode 2
Portal (Ships with Ep 2)
Enemy territory: Quake Wars. I wish they would do something in the vein of Quake 1, but the Strogg storyline from Q2 is great too...
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (Set in a radioactive wasteland around chernobyl, realisticly rendered from real-life locations)
Crysis (Screw any Far Cry sequals, this looks AMAZING)

Looks like 2007 is going to be an incredible year for PC Gaming. With Vista and DirectX 10, we are going to see some amazing things...

And with XNA, indie games are going to become a much bigger deal in the coming year (Comes with full DX9 support, and the 3.0 .net fgramework is coming, so get ready for Vista and DX10 support :D:D:D)

I have to admit, as a hardcore PC gamer, i have been pretty happy with all the 360 crossovers they have been making. rather than "Consolizing" pc games, the developers have been "PCizing" console games. :)

Portal is going to be awesome. I cant wait.

Nah, VERY different. Believe it or not, it looks to surpass Fear in a lot of ways (it is very hard to say that , too, because i love Fear almost as much as my family (just kidding honey))

the story is as follows:

You are floating in the ocean with flaming wreckage all around you. the only land nearby is a small island with a lighthouse, so you swim to it. It is the 60s, and you just survived an ocean plane crash. On the island, you find a bathysphere with a dead body in it. Having nowhere else to go, you get into the sphere and begina descent into the ocean.

Underneath, you find a city called rapture. it was a man's (named Andrew Ryan) dream to create a society away from the world where scientists, artists, and business people could practice their skills without boundaries, no law, no cencorship. The writers of the game read a lot of George Orwell and Ayn Rand (Specifically Atlas Shrugged) to come up with a society that was completely amoral, not evil, just with no moralistic boundaries.

Eventually, one o fthe scientists discovers a type of sea slug that generates raw stem cells, which can be modified and injected into a person to cause immediate alterations in their form. A war starts between two factions over what they call "Adam", for control over personal upgrades.

Ryan wins, but not before the perfect society they created crumbles into a bunch of mutated insane people fighting over adam and the wreckage of their former utopia. The player arrives at this point.

The game is going to rely less on on predetermind pathways and posts, like most games, and instead, the devlopers have created an environment, and each AI character within it has a particular behavior, and they simply exist in their environment and react to the world around them as an animal would.

the big buzzword is "emergent gameplay", which is, things happen naturally, and without being predetermined by the game developer. it has existsed for forever, but now they are making games to help random acts of coolness happen on their own.

An old example would be in Quake, if you were fighting with an Ogre, and he accidentally hit something else with a grenade (say a fiend), that creature would tear into theb ogre and ignore you. They have tried to set the stage for almost the entire game to work like that.

Hmmm... Okaaay...

So is the gameplay like quake and Fear?

And most important, is it scary?

From what i have seen in the trailers(http://www.bioshock-online.com/media/video/) It will be similar to what we all know and love in a normal FPS. The set up is very atmospheric, and it comes from the people who made System Shock 2, which is said to be one of the scariest games ever made, so yeah, it should be extremely scary.

Angra 01-24-2007 06:12 AM

The scary part sounds really good.

Too bad i´m not a big FPS fan. :(

If you can, watch the trailers. You never know, you may become a believer. it is being built more for tactics than straight ahead fighting (which you can do, you will just have a very hard time). Irrational (previously Looking Glass Studios) has a reputation for making RPG/FPS games, not just quake style kill fests, but rathe rmore immersive Deus Ex style problem solvers.

And on top of that, they weave an incredible story.
