how do your store your DVD collection?
I was initially thinking of getting some wall shelving, but now I'm leaning toward a large spinner rack that will hold around 500 or so. I think I have more floor space than wall space, so this is probably the way to go. How to you store your DVD collection?

Lots and lots of bookshelves. We have a ridiculous amount of movies; VHS and DVD. We never rent movies, we just buy them.

Thanks for the link. Sure would be nice to have working search functions. I am going to have to get one of those spinner racks.

one of my friends had them spinner racks for cds i dont like em...i got shelfs and book shelfs and my wardrobe has a shelf bit for tv and such to go in but i put dvds their instead....ive ran outta space actually.....

That's the thing. I like the look of regular shelves much better, but I simply don't have the room to expand once I fill one up. I'd either have to split my collection to multiple rooms or go with a spinner. That is the main reason I'm leaning toward a spinner.

i keep moving mine around cause they're all organized by one type of thing or another....or they run into each other somehow by directors, genres, actors etc....so i have to have more space for my horrors than others

I have 2 spinners and they're perfect for me. They look great (IMO) and hardly take up any room.
Here's a really outdated picture of one of mine: http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i9...g?t=1165699144 |

Damn, that must be annoying if you wanted to watch, for example, Fiddler on the Roof.

more for kids films as a rule .. i dont like them as much because they take up too much room and the plastic gets brittle .. |

What I meant was that it must be a bitch to try and get at it. When I used to store my tapes beside my TV, it was a constant struggle...resulted in me watching the movies along the sides very rarely. |
Wow!!
:D Now THAT'S a room I'd like to spend some time in! Holy crap! Nice collection dude!!
I store my dvd's in a open air shelving unit I purchased (cheaply) at Wal-Mart, lol. I'd like something different. I suppose when I get my carcass moving I'll go out to the garage and build it......I have a box of vhs, but I'm gonna throw them away when I get the dvd copy. |
