I'm going to edit my list here as I see more that deserve to be on it. If other Asian horror fans do the same, this might end up being a useful thread.

I just added Phone and dropped Marebito. I plan to see Premonition next.

Mine's going to be pretty vanilla. I've only seen about 40 asian horrors so far:(

In no particular order:

A Chinese Ghost Story
The Eye
Kairo
Kwaidan
Battle Royale
Premonition
Uzumaki
Marronnier
Versus
Perfect Blue

(I own every one except Battle Royale)

I agree. It's hard for me to make any kind of favorites list because I always forget one or two. Then I see them on someone else's list and have to add them to mine. Case in point...I'm replacing The Heirloom with Premonition.

I'm sure there will be more changes to follow seeing as how I bought five more Asian movies yesterday during my Black Friday outing: H, Red Shoes, Sorum, Infection, and Premonition.

I'll be interested to hear what you think of these. I really liked Red Shoes except for the constant screaming of "Tae-Soo," which nearly ruined it for me. They should have just called the damn movie Tae-Soo. I've got Premonition and Infection coming from Netflix in the next couple days I hope.

slayer666 11-27-2006 05:24 PM

Premonition wasn't bad, but it wasn't nearly scary enough to make my list. Still, it was entertaining and I'm glad I watched it.

slayer666 11-29-2006 03:08 AM

I think I might have to expand my list to top 20 or 25. As I see more and more Asian horror flicks, 10 just isn't enough to capture the greatness. I'll add to my original list periodically, so feel free to do the same.

I just saw R-Point last night, and it earned a spot on my top 10 list. Great flick.

BASSI 12-06-2006 09:29 AM

1 Ju-on
2 Ring
3 The Eye
4 Ju-on 2
5 Tale of two sisters
6 Battle Royale
7 R- ponit
8 Ring 2
9 Suicide Circle
10 pulse

slayer666 12-15-2006 05:26 AM

Infection earned a spot on my top 10 list. Great flick to find at the exact moment I was starting to tire of wet-haired girl ghosts.

slayer666 01-28-2007 04:56 AM

One Missed Call 2 knocked One Missed Call off my list, as I liked it better. Bushinsaba made the top 20 but did not crack the top 10.

Rather than doing a new one each time, I've been updating this one via edit.

Ash's_evil_hand 02-07-2007 02:22 PM

Ju-on
Audition
Ringu
The eye
Battle Royale
The freezer
Ichi the killer

For me, Ju-on takes it because of that moment with the ghost under the duvet. Now I realise that it may sound weak, but that's one of the places where as a child you go to be safe. It's invading your safe space.

For similar reasons, I also think Blair Witch was scary as hell... I was scared of the dark throughout my childhood. It's just one of those primal fears. I thought the end was a bit of a let-down, though.

Dark Water, i dont like any others

slayer666 02-19-2007 05:39 AM

I just saw The Apartment, and this Korean film has cracked my top 10 (updated in the first post in this thread).

Given that you recommended this one and hated The Descent at least as much as I did, I think I can trust your recommendations.
