The Monster Legacy Gift Set.

http://www.amazon.com/Monster-Legacy.../dp/B0001CNRNO

Does anybody have it?I'm thinking about asking my parents if they can get me that for christmas. Is it any good, and how big are the head statue things?

jedicow 11-13-2006 05:01 AM

i have the box sets but not the gift set with the busts. i have seen the busts and from what i remember, they are somewhere around 8-10 inches tall...i think.

the DVDs however are excellent. i have watched each one of them multiple times. i highly recommend them.

urgeok 11-13-2006 05:29 AM

i think the busts are only 3 - inches tall ....could be wrong though..

i have 6 of the box sets - i wish i could have known to hold out for the busts version.

Geddy 11-13-2006 08:14 AM

I wanna get the busts ones but I don't think I can find the set anywhere around where I live, and my parents don't order of the internet so I might have to get just the box sets.

alkytrio666 11-13-2006 12:50 PM

I have each of them individually. Don't know about the busts, but the DVDs are fantastic.

Mmmmm...Bride of Frankenstein...mmmmm...with commentary...mmmm...

Exactly. I have the Dracula, Frankenstein, and Wolf Man ones on their own, and they're some of the greatest discs in my collection.

Alky - I take it the BOF commentary is good? Ive watched the ones for Dracula and The Wolf Man, but havent checked out that one yet.

GetrDone 11-16-2006 02:11 PM

I just ordered the set with the busts from amazon a few days ago. can't wait to get it but I don't think I'm going to open it so I'll probably end up buying the dvds seperatly to watch

Yeah, it's pretty good. It's another film historian who really knows his stuff, so he's able to give some very insightful facts.

Definately worth checking out. Possible my favorite Uni Horror commentary- that or Dracula's.

I didnt think Dracula's was that great...mostly stuff I already knew, nothing new.

Wolf Man's was great though.

Haven't watched Wolfman's. Don't even own the Wolfman collection.

Have the busts and the movies. The busts are at least 6" tall and very detailed. They list the monster and the actor that played them. Very nice set with great movies too.

another sign of my failing memory - i cant remember them being that big.

were there busts for the 2nd set of movies ?

slayer666 11-17-2006 03:10 AM

Some of the Amazon reviews make it sound like the quality of the DVDs isn't exactly great.

Really? You'd like the commentary...they mention Val Lewton quite often.

Really? I wonder what to...probably use of those damn chilling animal shadows before the kill... (i.e. The Leopard Man, Cat People, etc.).

And Slayer, the quality is fine, man. Trust me, I'm picky.

I've got the busts set...and they are really cool! They're about 6.5" high, nicely detailed, and they have little name plaques on the stands with character name, actor, and original year of release. The movies look awesome and the extras are really good also. Only one bad point: crappy little featurettes that are a marketing tie-in for "Van Helsing" - but, hey, it's a small cross to bear 'cause you won't ever have to pay $80 to get "Bride of Frankenstein" on DVD again!

GetrDone 11-28-2006 08:28 PM

I ordered mine from amazon and it finally shipped out today. Can't wait to get it. I don't know if its gonna be opened though such a tough decision!!

AvatarBlack 11-29-2006 12:18 AM

I have all but the Wolf-Man and the Invisible Man collections. My favorite out of them all though is The Mummy, followed very closely by The Creature from the Black Lagoon.

Ballz Deep 11-30-2006 09:17 AM

I have the "Wolfman", "Frankenstein" and "The Creature from the Black Lagoon" Legacy collections and really like them, they are well worth the money.:)

Actually If I decide to keep this set unopen I will buy the dvds seperatly to watch and enjoy

urgeok 12-04-2006 11:50 AM

i just found a place that will let me swap my 3 sets for the one with the busts - for a couple of bucks .. think i'll go for it.

Doc Faustus 12-07-2006 06:45 AM

The legacy sets are some of the coolest DVD repackagings I've ever seen. The only DVDs I own that are better packaged are Broken Saints and the Gojira rerelease, which is also worth shelling out the cash for. The busts look really cool too.

Mr.Flash 12-13-2006 02:45 PM

i have all of them they rock.

VampiricClown 01-02-2007 06:42 PM

I have this set. My dad special ordered it for me as a Christmas present.
