Wes Craven

Wes Craven is a horror Genius. I love all his work:eek:

The_Return 11-06-2006 01:42 PM

Wes Craven is a hack that managed to make a couple good movies early in his career.

Roderick Usher 11-06-2006 02:07 PM

Come on, return - he's had at least two significant and highly influential horror/thriller in every decade since the 70's

Last House on the Left & The Hills Have Eyes - 70s
Nightmare on Elm Street & Serpent and the Rainbow - 80's
Scream trilogy - 90s

and so far Red Eye in 00s

he's great

the_real_linda 11-14-2006 07:24 AM

i thought he didnt like horrors and any film he did outside the genre failed so he keeps making horrors....i do like his work dont get me wrong.

Geddy 11-14-2006 02:36 PM

I like most of his early stuff.

Popsicle Cannibal 11-18-2006 09:54 PM

Wes Craven is a thouroughly average director. To be fair, his films do often have quite original concepts. I just hate how uneducated people always talk about how he's "the king of horror" or whatever bullshit.

I'm fully Agree with u :)

the_real_linda 11-19-2006 06:44 AM

he's good but i agree with popsicle that he is overrated.

SamCostello 11-19-2006 11:05 AM

I find Craven really frustrating. I agree with those who say that he makes some really great movies - the original NoES, Red Eye, New Nightmare, etc. - and some good ones - Serpent and the Rainbow, Scream 1 - but there's a lot of bad stuff mixed in, too.

He's an interesting guy, though. I heard him interviewed on the radio a few years back about the fantasy/SF novel he wrote and was really impressed by his thoughtfulness and introspection.

Here's hoping he comes up with more good movies in the future.

i think The Hills Have Eyes and Nightmare on Elm St (#1) were enough to give him legendary horror film guy status - but a lot of his other stuff seems to be evidence of his lack of interest in the genre.

i though Red Eye was a pretty bad example to use as a testiment of his greatness

It's good to see I'm not the only one who feels this way:cool:

Seriously, I give him credit for the few good ones he's done. He's got what I like to call the Stephen King syndrome. Turn out a few pieces of brilliant work, ride the wave all the way home by throwing your name on any piece of trash and collecting royalties.

urgeok 11-20-2006 06:40 AM

like 'wes craven's Wishmaster'

why would you want your name associated with that crap ?

SamCostello 11-20-2006 04:50 PM

Thanks for the kind words! They're much appreciated.

Sam

melaniepants 11-20-2006 05:34 PM

Wishmaster was a good movie

Wishmaster was not one of the best movies to attach you name to...but Wes Craven does come up with some good movies. But what filmmaker doesnt come up with some crap films during his career? I mean they have to start somewhere and most of them (im not saying all of them) will start with a really bad movie that holds some tiny morsel of good in it so they get noticed.....

and then some film makers fizzle out for a few years or their careers slide because they are comfortable in their status and believe that any film they make will be a hit because of their privous ones.

all in all...even the most genious of film makers will make a real doozy, or two, or three...they're human like everyone else.

But i do like Wes Cravens stuff.

Was Flowers in the Attic directed by Wes Craven or Jeffrey Bloom?

I know Craven wrote the screenplay.
