Fuck myspace

anyone else agree with me??? its so overated.

AmericanManiac 11-06-2006 11:56 AM

I like it, its a way for me to keep in touch with my friends from HS.

Nikkif8 11-06-2006 12:01 PM

I think it may be over rated but who cares. I recently just started using it and found one of my bestest friends who had been looking for me for a year on mypace. We lost contact for a couple years and thanks to myspace we are now back in touch. I think it's pretty sweet. I have come in contact with quite a few other friends to who live in other states now and had lost touch. Plus you can make cool pages too lol.

freddy69 11-06-2006 12:09 PM

hey i like myspace, its a way for me to chat with my family.:)

AmericanManiac 11-06-2006 12:11 PM

When I was in school we would all make websites, so its pretty much the same thing to stay in touch with friends. If your looking for a date though or whatever how about getting up from the computer and go out.

Spallalala 11-06-2006 01:35 PM

Who would wanna talk to you angra.

GorePhobia 11-06-2006 01:37 PM

I love myspace. Maybe it's just because I have been on it since it started but I talk to alot of people on there. I pick up girls from myspace lol and I promote my short films and such. It's a great networking site to hook up with other people in the film and or music business.

I highly doubt it will take over the world, it may have taken over the internet now. But only in a few short months will it start getting fined, and finally shut down. Because of pissed off parents, which is a shame because it is a good site for people 18+.

pissed off parents? why??

jmac5000 11-06-2006 02:42 PM

Myspace is AWESOME

For promoting independent film and music, MySpace has no equal. Before MySpace, there was no real way to connect to THOUSANDS of potential viewers. So, from a marketing standpoint, MySpace is a tremendous boon to all independent artists.

I've only used it sparingly for dating and finding long lost friends.

Cheers!

kpropain 11-06-2006 02:47 PM

Myspace is kind of a 50/50 thing for me, I've been on it since it first started...I like it for finding old friends that I haven't talked to in years, also for finding new bands that I probably would have never heard about if it wern't for myspace...But there is def. a downside to it as well, all the rediculous add whore bulletins that so many attention whores put out, and all the perverted adults that post shit on underage kids pages...

Apparently you have never seen dateline to catch an online pred on friday nights, myspace is a very easy target as kpro has stated.

bloodrayne 11-07-2006 05:34 AM

It really depends on what YOU use MySpace FOR.

When we work with the bands, booking, transportation, setting up the shows, MySpace is a VERY fast and easy way to contact everyone and keep it all together.

If I need to pass along some information or questions (usually about shows, attendence, times, prices, etcetera) for all of my friends at once, I can post ONE bulletin, instead of having to call 50 people...THAT is great.

If we have plans to hang out with a few of our friends, we can contact them here instead of having to call them all.

AND...I just received a few applications at MySpace for the job that we need to get filled IMMEDIATELY, and one of those applications is damn near perfect, the guy only lives 10 minutes away and meets all of the requirements. Also, by checking their profiles, you can find out a LOT about them personally (especially their personalities), and that helps to decide if they would be right for the job, too.

BUT...If you're just using it to hook up with people...That's pretty lame to begin with...I can see where it would be kinda stupid and pointless...

Disease 11-07-2006 06:30 AM

What are you doing on there now Rayne?

HaHa...Reading these applications...Responding to questions about the job...and waiting for answers from two other applicants, one of those lives almost 45 minutes away, so I'm asking if he's planning on relocating here, or if he thinks he'd really be willing to drive that far for this job...

Boring but necessary shit...

VampiricClown 11-07-2006 06:51 AM

Haha, yeah. I'm closing mine. I'm fixing to reopen one with my girlfriend, but if me and her break up, I'm not making another one.

The only thing I'd use myspace for after that is for my band....Which I may be fixing to find some new members because the ones I have right now aren't doing anything yet.

But since I've had myspace, I have been able to get in touch with three of my old friends that I haven't talked to in about four years. So that really was a useful thing.

Right now, I'm collecting emails and phone numbers so I can stay in touch with my friends from there after I close mine down.

SKOOFx 11-07-2006 07:51 AM

Ouch,
this hits hard.

I was and AM very much against myspace.
It is the largest attention whoring contest in the world, and even though it is great for networking 90% of it is misused. It is a bastardized version of its original concept.

BUT

Unfortunately, a week ago, i became a hypocrite. Due to the field in which i work in, I was pretty much forced to get it. No matter who you talk to in the audio world, if you dont have a myspace, your arent taken seriously. It's like not having email. THATS HOW FAR ITS COME.

The only good thing which i have experienced through myspace so far, is the fact that i have been able to keep in touch with past business associates and freinds in which i probably woul not have under normal circumstances (sick isnt it?..they just make it that easy).

So, i still stick with my belief that myspace is reserved for semi-educated flaggellants, but alas, i have joined. BUT if you look at my site, i keep it STRICTLY business. NO TOP 8 , NO COMMENTS!

I haven't changed a lot of mine as far as my original profile thing, but I did take off comments and friends. That isn't something that ever really did much for me except get me into relationship trouble.

VampiricClown 11-07-2006 07:58 AM

Another thing I hate about it is messages you get like this when you try to be friendly:

Title: WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU?
Body: HUMM HOW IN THE HELL DID YOU FIND ME? AND HOW DO U KNOW ME AND Y ARE YOU ASKIN ME TO BE YOUR FRIEND!?

This was one I got this morning.

the_real_linda 11-07-2006 08:09 AM

im sick of myspace now.....and those messages are annoying. its like i go on there to talk to people i wouldnt usually and for music....its hard to explain to some of these people on there.

urgeok 11-07-2006 08:13 AM

i joined myspace to see a friends page .. (musicians page)
i looked at the page then immediately forgot my name/password.

then i joined again to see another friends page. (musicians page)
i looked at the page then immediately forgot my name/password.

thats my experience with myspace. (i clearly dont get it)

the_real_linda 11-07-2006 08:17 AM

olo! your name or login or whatever is your e-mail adress and passowrd could be anything..?????

newb 11-07-2006 08:21 AM

Don't have my"own"space.

Currently working on a website, which will allow for chats/blogs, personal stuff; but with what I want, not what some netperv thinks they should have.
Anyone could use it, but you may have to log on, for security reasons.

Yesterday saw the un"official" launch of the UK Id card, which will have biometric/fingerprint/iris embedded info.
