The Crazies Remake

Yah. They are.

Roderick Usher 10-28-2006 07:09 PM

why not?The first one was hardly brilliant.

alkytrio666 10-28-2006 07:13 PM

I disagree. I thought the original was pretty good.

I guess it's just shocking that there literally isn't going to be anything sacred within 10 years.

the_real_linda 10-30-2006 02:11 AM

i guess thats the time limit on people destroying.i meant remaking films. i liked the original and im sick of having to say the original.....before they were remade or planed to be they were just the film they are

THE CRAZIES ...remake of Romero's early 70s classic, with Timothy Olyphant, Radha Mitchell, Joe Anderson and Danielle Panabaker.

2nd trailer - http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1810072733/video/17094672

David Dutten is sheriff of Ogden Marsh, a picture-perfect American town with happy, law-abiding citizens. But one night, one of them comes to a school baseball game with a loaded shotgun, ready to kill. Another man burns down his own house-after locking his wife and young son in a closet inside. Within days, the town has transformed into a sickening asylum; people who days ago lived quiet, unremarkable lives have now become depraved, blood-thirsty killers, hiding in the darkness with guns and knives. Sheriff Dutten tries to make sense of what’s happening as the horrific, nonsensical violence escalates. Something is infecting the citizens of Ogden Marsh with insanity. Now complete anarchy reigns as one by one the townsfolk succumb to an unknown toxin and turn sadistically violent. In an effort to keep the madness contained, the government uses deadly force to close off all access and won’t let anyone in or out - even those uninfected. The few still sane find themselves trapped: Sheriff Dutten; his pregnant wife, Judy; Becca, an assistant at the medical center; and Russell, Dutten’s deputy and right-hand man. Forced to band together, an ordinary night becomes a horrifying struggle for survival as they do their best to get out of town alive.

# Release date: February 26, 2010

The Crazies (2010)

Apparently this film slipped under a lot of peoples radar; it did mine. Frankly, the trailers and commercials for the film didn't do anything for me. But it's sitting at 71% at Rotten Tomatoes right now, which is actually pretty damned high for a horror film. I'm gonna have to check it out.

The_Return 02-27-2010 11:12 AM

Haven't seen the original (yet), but the trailers for this look pretty solid. I'm pretty keen to give it a look, as long as it's playing at the cheap theatre.

roshiq 02-27-2010 12:41 PM

Saw the original just few months ago and I think after Night & Dawn it's another fantastic symbolic masterpiece with as usually a good deal of social commentary from Romero that you can put beside Martin in a list like 'Best of Romeo's'.

I hope the remake may at least deliver some decent fun time like The Remake of the Dawn did.

Agreed.

Wasn't overly excited about it.

ferretchucker 02-28-2010 10:02 AM

I'll give it a watch.

friday13thfan 02-28-2010 04:51 PM

Worth a watch. All remakes deserve at least a shot.

Deimos 03-21-2010 03:00 PM

crimson_ghost 03-24-2010 11:31 AM

I loved it, one of the few remakes that's better than the original
