Absolutely. They only thing I'd watch out for is that you can usually get a double feature for that price which includes LMOE.

So do some careful shopping...but it's a great movie.

Don't say I never gave you anything. This is the way to go, I have a similar set by the same company and the quality is medicore, but it's a spectacular deal. $8. Free Shipping. It includes The Last Man on Earth along with a bunch of other classics. Now there's your money's worth.

taking a nice widescreen movie (2.35 ratio in this case) and cropping it to fit a tv screen (1.33).....butchery on a different scale

Geddy 10-10-2006 02:46 AM

I could probably get it on a double feature at the store I got Dimentia 13/Night of the lving dead on and there screens are the right size.I usually don't buy movies off of the computer.

evildemontoo 10-10-2006 09:30 AM

Last Man of Earth is a good Vincent Price movie, but he's the only one in it so you have to really like him! I wrote this in another thread, the movie is based on an old book called I AM Legend, the book was actually pretty good too.0
:o

He's not the only one.

Most of the time, sure, but dont forget the flashbacks + the ending.

Is the movie kind of like him surviving in a world with no one else?

In a word: Yes.

Few more words: One of my favourites. Made it onto the Top 100 list, so how bad could it be?

The sets are great, the effects are good, the actors are way better than you'd expect (Esp. Geoffery Rush...the only man other than Price himself who could pull off that role. He's fantastic)

Go buy this one dude, you'll love it. Plus you can get it really cheap:D

EDIT - Forgot to mention...as awesome as it is, the ending is pure crap. Up until the last 10 minutes or so it's amazing, but then it takes a swandive off a rather steep cliff.

Geddy 10-16-2006 12:15 AM

I think I'll borrow or rent the remake.I'm gonna start saving up my money. Thanks for the help.

Geddy 10-22-2006 12:06 PM

I went back to the store today to check out what they had,I made a list here it is.Embryo,Where Have All The People Gone,Dr.Jeckyle And Mr.Hyde,My Son The Vampire, and Bucket Of Blood.Any good?

Do you know which version? There've been quite a few. The one from the 40s is quite good, and so's the silent 20s version.

Geddy 10-22-2006 04:08 PM

It's the 20's one.I've never seen a silent film before.I might get it.

Decent movie, but maybe not the greatest silent to start with. Of the ones that Ive seen, it's easily the weakest IMO.

Now dont take that the wrong way, it is certainly a good movie. But by comparison to Nosferatu, Phantom of the Opera, Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Metropolis, ect., it's just not up to snuff.

alkytrio666 10-22-2006 06:37 PM

I'd pick it up if I were you. But Return's right, there are better silents. Check out Nosferatu and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.

I've been wanting to check out Nosferatu for a while now.I can't find it anywhere, and I don't shop online.

bwind22 10-25-2006 12:57 AM

Metrpolis is easily my favorite silent film. Light years ahead of it's time!

I might have 2 copies of Nosferatu laying around. I know I used to for sure, but I may have already given 1 away.

When I get home I'll check and if I do, you can have it.

Rob Zombie is screening that movie on TCM on Friday December 29th. I think it is a great cult classic. Vincent Price has to battle to try and stay alive. It was filmed in black and white... the auora of it is very dark. The company TREELINE makes 50 dvd movie meagapacks and I think all three movies are included in one of the horror megapacks.
